To beat, or not to beat ... (part 2)

Post by Trev » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:38 pm

These games are not all necesarily my favorites (although most actually are) but they are some of the games that I was especially happy to beat.

Guardian War (Powers Kingdom) Ending is actually pretty weak, but still ...
Immercenary - (see my review)
Lost files of Sherlock Holmes - Great story throughout
Lucienes Quest - Another 3DO rpg with a fairly weak ending. But still ...
Mad Dog II - The 1st lightgun game I ever beat. Tough, but worth beating
Myst - Like it or loathe it, every real gamer should beat this once.
Nightrap - Worth doing just to see all the cheasy acting.
Wolfenstein - Killing Hitler. Need I say more?

My list of beat games is too long for me to care to post, however I have to confess I've never beat Lucienne's Quest. Not because it's difficult or anything but because I repeatedly delete the savegame file when I clear out the memory. Now that I have a disc for the Panasonic Memory Unit, thanks to another member on here. I can try playing it again without deleting my progress like a retard.

Wow, I didn't realize everyone would be posting a full list. But, when in Rome ...

Besides the 8 I listed in my original post, I have also beaten ...

Demolition Man
Doctor Hauzer (I cheated w/a walkthrough though)
Lost Eden
NFS (only w/some cars)
PaTaank
Putt Putt joins the parade (a challenging one  )
Rise of the Robots
Rebel Assault
Slam n' Jam (season w/championship title)
Starblade
Star Control II (should have listed in the first post, awesome ending! :D )
SFII
Twisted (a million times)
Ultraman

Others that I know I'm forgetting, but might add later.

I must of logged 40+ hours into star control II. It's a shame i stopped playng it. Defintly a cool game. One of my favs. Never beat it though. I explored/mined quite a bit of the map though.

Shame

Do you still have a save file in memory? You must finish it!

If you've logged that much time, than you are probably fairly close to the end.

I dont think im that close to the end. I really wasnt trying to beat it. I truly was just exploring EVERYTHING sector by sector. heh. I should still have the save file though. I didnt delete it. I think i had my ship all maxed out iirc.

Hmmm ... somehow I missed this post.
My walk through or an inferior one?
Didn't you ever read my review of this game that I posted on the froum?

http://cdinteractive.co.uk/3do/forum/vi ... 3336fdfbb6

I made mention of it in there.
puzzles are the only enemies you’ll have to face. This can cripple an otherwise playable game, as Japanese language skills are necessary to make any real progress. You can of course save constantly, and advance through trial or error. Or you can look for an on-line walkthrough (I hesitate to mention the walkthrough I used, as I believe the author is something of an unofficial rival to 3DOKid
Anyway, in answer to your question ...

Sorry Kid, this was before I knew you. I'll be sure to use your guide for any future playthroughs.

ahhh yeah. I based my walkthrough on his. 2Tuff? I do credit him in my walkthrough.

I thought you had played it again recently - that's why I hoped you had used my graphically superior version. (with plot translation!)

On that note, I'm going to get Mrs 3DOkid to translate Reika sing-a-long so I can subtitle it, and we can all (virtually) sing-a-long together!

Yeah, I got a kick out of reading the old man's diary notes. I never realized what a fruit cake he was before your translation. It was good, as was your copious amounts of screen shots. Next time I give it a go, I'll use your guide to be sure.

Does she take requests? :)

4 more to add to my slowly growing list. Just recently I beat ...

Flashback (about time since this was/is one of my fav games since I was a teen)

Wing Commander III (finally w/out cheat codes!)

Belzerion (1st import I've beaten w/out a guide! I enjoyed this game and recommend it)

Soccer Kid (w/all 5 cup pieces)
