I forgot to follow up on this, but the January 1997 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms that Battlesport was coming to M2. From the sound of it, it would have been an enhanced port. I still haven't seen any screenshots of the game, though, so most likely it didn't get too far along in development...
