Burn Cycle Mission Briefing?

Post by Martin III » Thu Aug 18, 2011 1:29 pm

I was just doing my semi-regular search for an attractive 3DO bundle on Ebay, when I found a listing which includes, along with the 3DO console itself and four other games, a game called "Burn Cycle Mission Briefing".

What's this "Mission Briefing"? You can see in the photo that the cover of the game is the same or nearly the same as the cover of Burn: Cycle, so I'm guessing this is a demo disc for Burn: Cycle?

More importantly, I thought Burn: Cycle was a CD-i exclusive. Was it released for the 3DO too, or did the seller simply get one of his CD-i games mixed in with his 3DO collection? I've always found this game intriguing, so it would be cool if it were available for the 3DO.

Burn Cycle definitely wasn't released for 3DO. I'm assuming the picture you mentioned is of just the jewel cased game ... the instruction manual has mission briefing stamped across the front (as opposed to the full packaging, where the extra packaging sleeve simply says Burn Cycle) It is the full game, not a demo.

Burn:Cycle was also released on the PC, so it could possibly be that version mistaken for a 3DO game.

Yeah, looking at the auction I can see that the game is the CD-I version.
For it to be a licensed and released 3DO title it needs to have the 3DO logo on one of the front corners. If it was an unreleased proto it could have anything anywhere; but I highly doubt that is the case here.

Ah well. Not too surprising to hear that it was a mistake on the seller's part, but I had to be sure. Thanks for the quick answers, guys.
