Sometimes the text would show up and disappear a little too quickly, but it's nothing that a little rewinding didn't fix.

Means either I can't spell or it's a phrase unique to the UK.

I think it means their hands were not operating correctly during it's construction. :D

I listened to a fascinating documentary on BBC Radio 4 a long time ago that explained the evolution of modern language. And they explained that words that I would consider Australian, words like 'Tucker', 'Dunny' (I think) and 'Jumbuck', I think they even mentioned 'Daggy' are old words from English, that we stopped using but lived on Australia. Some of them date back to 14th Century apparently.
