Prinal Rage compared

Post by Trev » Thu Jun 05, 2008 3:42 am

Here is a cool Youtube video about a semi-cool game ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7CYV4JQBMo

I'd love to see more of this type of video. I've always wondered how 3DO versions of games fared against the other platforms. I've only done it w/a few games myself (notably NFS)

Too bad the 3DO version gets kinda a bumm rap in this video. Only real difference I saw was the smaller characters, which I actually prefer anyway.

Want to see something funny? I did a review of the 3DO Primal Rage and gave it higher marks than the Jaguar version on a Jaguar board and people really were not too happy with that. You all know I love my Jaguar but Primal Rage on the Jaguar CD is horrid compared to the 3DO version. I actually did quite a few 3DO reviews and have gotten some of the Jaguar crowd to pick one up. It's nice to see this kind of thing.

What do you think makes the 3DO version better?

T2K, I read some comments by you & others on Jaguar sector II about PR, but never saw your review. Maybe send me a link?

Do you own both versions 3DOKid? I don't, but in my experience w/both consoles, I've seen ports are always superior on 3DO. Still though, I like to know specifics. What is there besides the extra movies?

So to answer your question, s-p-e-l-l i-t o-u-t!

The 3do port is superior because it plays in a 3do console. 'Nuff said. 8)

Well it looks like the characters in the Saturn/PlayStation versions take up too much space. I have this game for both 3DO and Saturn but never compared them, I'll have to check and see if one actually looks better or if the win will end up in the hands of the 3DO just for better game play.

Well, since I was asked nicely, below is the link to my review of the 3DO version of Primal Rage which also has some basic reasons why I believe that the 3DO version is better. Try not to be too harsh on my review skills, I do this as a hobby too, you know?

Actually T2K, I think this was your best review yet! Granted, I've only read the handful you've posted on this forum, but the PR review had just about everything I was looking for. In some ways, it was quite similar to how I write my own reviews.

I never realized that 3DO PR had a re-mixed soundtrack, but now that I do I want to compare it myself.

Great review, I am tempted to do a similar one w/NFS.

Thanks!

You ought to check out some of my other reviews if you liked that one. 8) I appreciate the feedback.
