The Atari Jaguar.
I'm going to make a Jag sticky. Right now I'm sort of torn between a separate forum (Devin permitting of cause) or keeping Jag talk in here. Part of the fun is comparing the 3DO and Jaguar, and I doubt this forum will go much further than that. What do you think? Pretty much like what we did with the M2.
3DO kid.
3DO kid.
i get enough jag vs stuff at atariage and im kinda sick of it really
you can make a sticky tho if you guys want im not gonna stop ya
if you made a seperate forum i would make it a genreal type forum for all the other systems that are not 3DO

Club Drive rocks! One of the best Porno Titles ever. Wait, what's that you say? Not the porn starring Lovelace and The Hedgehog? Oh, the Jaguar game? Hey it was cool too also, not as cool as the Porn though.CrimsonGlory wrote:I think we should make an entire forum dedicated to Club Drive
As for a Jaguar thread, it's all good although I agree that I am tired of the age old Jaguar VS 3DO argument as both systems are awesome for what they are in their respects. I get my Jaguar fill over at JSII to be honest anyway. I will help support anything put here though, so go for it.
This is a stick up! Put all of your 3DO games in the bag and nobody gets hurt!

Club drive was my first Jaguar game - I actually sort of got into it. It did however taint my view of the Jag.
All I thought was, that there is a lot of Jaguar talk, I wasn't going to be competitive or use it to slag off the jag - I just thought it might be nice to have a dedicated thread...
just a thought you understand.

It's all good brother, I know what you mean. Now, to clarify Club Drive for everyone. The truth with the game is this; It is supposed to look the way that it does. This may turn people off, but why does it look that way you may ask? Simply put, it is the sequel to Hard Drivin'. It looked that way so that people would identify it with the games that came before it. The sad thing is that it backfired on Atari. Hell, even looking at Checkered Flag and you know that Atari was able to do better graphics with more detail than it had. Sadness added, the fact that people wanted to speculate that Club Drive was a demo that was never finished or a rushed project, it was sad in the end because it wasn't true. Hell, Cybermorph was more detailed, but Club Drive was in the finished state that it was supposed to be released in. Hate it or love it, the game was fun.3DOKid wrote:Club drive was my first Jaguar game - I actually sort of got into it. It did however taint my view of the Jag.

Club Drive is hardly a game to judge the Jaguar by anyway, and that's what really gets my goat; when ever people say the Jaguar sucks, the titles they always mention are always the Jag's worst titles. How about if people were to form an opinion of the 3DO based on F1 Gran Prix, or Autobahn Tokio or Seal of the Pharaoh, or some other horrid 3DO game (the Jag isn't alone in having it's share of bad/subpar games)? Before you decide the Jaguar sucks, or isn't up to par with the 3DO, check out games like Battlemorph(CD), Iron Soldier 2(CD), Missle Command 3D(cart), Hoverstrike: unconquered lands(CD), Alien vs. Predator(cart), or even the Jag's version of Doom compared to the 3DO version, etc. Compare games like Gex to Rayman, etc. and you'll quickly see that the two systems are much more alike than different. But everytime someone brings up Club Drive, or Checkered Flag, or some other God-awful Jaguar title it only shows their ignorance of the system.

Wasnt personally trashing the Jaguar (I have one myself) and yes the 3do has more than its fair share of crappy games.
I just think club drive is poo, and making jokes about poo is amusing.
So im sorry to anyone else who may have been personally offended by my club drive comments
I now think we should make an entire forum dedicated to Kasumi Ninja.

...The more I think about it - the more cack the idea becomes. The Jag was gay!
Except, of cause, for the one I own and the CD unit winging it's way across to me from America.
I feel it was... utterly ruined by that... what was that game called? Oh come-on... ... ... Oh yes! Club Drive. God that was rubbish. It actually lodged in my Jag and uses psychlo power to force me to play it. amazing add-on that,

I just got my copy of Alien Vs. Predator but I'm so weak to hook my Jag up to my TV. I had a stomach virus the past 3 days. I'll try to hook the Jag up later today if I'm feeling better. This is one of the few games on the Jag that interested me.

Well in that case buy the DVD, or better yet go over to my neighbor's basement. He used to own two arcades and still has some machines.T2KFreeker wrote:Depends on if you want the full arcade experience.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't offended about the Club Drive comments, I'm fully aware it's a crappy game, I was just over reacting I guess, becuase everytime I see someone trashing the Jaguar, in comparison to another system or not, they ALWAYS mention the worst Jag games, that they have made a judgment on the Jaguar over all base soley on whatever crap games they unfortunately happened to try out on it. It's BS becuase they obviously have prejudged the Jag already, and then if they happen to have only a crappy title to try it out, they resolve that their preconception was right and con't even bother looking into other Jag titles to get a full picture of the system. You unfortunately just happened, once again, to mention a crap game off the bat, so I jumped to a conclusion from past experience with this sort of thing.CrimsonGlory wrote:Gunstar wrote:Club Drive is hardly a game to judge the Jaguar by anyway, and that's what really gets my goat; when ever people say the Jaguar sucks, the titles they always mention are always the Jag's worst titles. The point I was making. Graphics are the same as well as the game was taken directly from the original Master Laser. Was really a pretty impressive conversion at the time.Gunstar wrote:That's subjective; yes, it has better quality FMV over all, but the 3DO version has scenes missing from the arcade version, the Jaguar version, at least, is complete and true to the arcade!3DO Experience wrote:pfft the 3DO version of Dragon's Lair was way better.

Actually, I don't think either the 3DO or the Jag offer Dragon's Lair in complete form. I think the CD-I is the only console that has the game w/all the arcade scenes.3DO Experience wrote:

Depends on if you want the full arcade experience.
BTW, If a Jag thread is made I think it should be limited (maybe similar to what 3DO Kid w/3DO vs Jag ... head to head matchup of similar games)

Well I hooked my Jag back up and and played Alien Vs. Predator for a bit.
Holy crap the RF connection for the Jaguar results in absolutely abysmal video quality.
Nevertheless, I am impressed with this game especially with it's stable framerate. It makes Perfect Dark on the N64 look like DOOM on the 3DO.
BTW, what are the controls? B is fire, A is open doors. What else is there. I played as the Marine and Predator only briefly. I heard something about being able to be invisible as the Predator. How do I cocoon enemies when I'm the Alien?

The Jagaur version is the FULL and COMPLETE version just like the arcade, ripped right from the original arcade laserdisc.Trev wrote:Actually, I don't think either the 3DO or the Jag offer Dragon's Lair in complete form. Yeah, Jaguar RF is HORRID, get yourself a composite or S-video cable as soon as possible. Go to AtariAge and click on "JAGUAR" at the top of the page, you can find the full instruction manual for AvP or any other Jaguar game in the Jaguar section. Oh, and the frame-rate is about twice as fast and just as stable if you play as the Alien, they slowed the other two characters down to make it more realistic.UnholyTancred wrote:Well I hooked my Jag back up and and played Alien Vs. yeah AvP is awesome. Jag version of Dragon's Lair looks piss poor and is not complete, tho I can't recall what was missing before I traded the game. The DVD version is still the best of all short of the the actual machine but in the console world 3DO had the best picture, and yes from what I've heard CD-i is the only console that had the full version.

I remember that marine in AVP goin "What on earth got holda this guy?" Haha3DO Experience wrote:yeah AvP is awesome. Outside of owning the machine, the most accurate versions of the Dragons Lair arcade are via the DAPHNE emulator and/or the most recent "Arcade accurate" CD/DVD-ROM versions.
DVD video (for DVD players) has the best picture (obviously) but some of the moves are unaccurate and the scene sequencing is incorrect.
This is only nitpicking though and those who cant be arsed with the emulation route should play DL (and others of its ilk) via the CD/DVD rom versions (or be a total nerdy fanboy like myself and own EVERY version available, well, near enough Including a surreal French Canadian board game version.
As far as I remember, both the Jag and 3do versions are missing both some frames of animation and have replaced some death scenes with others, Ill have a razz on them soon and post my findings.
No. I have nothing better to do.
"Didn' mean ta burst ya bubble"
Your OPINION of Jaguar Dragon's Lair may be that it looks piss poor, and While I don't think it's piss-poor, the 3DO does have cleaner FMV, but not the whole game, but the Jaguar version IS COMPLETE WITH EVERY ARCADE SCENE, this is a FACT. And CD-i is NOT the only console with the full version, the Jaguar's version IS THE FULL VERSION! FACT!3DO Experience wrote:yeah AvP is awesome. As to it missing some frames of animation, this is only natural since the Jaguar CD can only do 25fps FMV, and the arcade LD is 30fps, but that's true of all console versions though, FMV on consoles doesn't reach 30fps. FMV on all consoles ranges from 15fps-25fps (CLASSIC CD consoles that is, any consoles with DVD/other discs can do 30fps FMV)

Its like when I made the comment about club drive earlier in this thread and you kicked off about everyones "ignorance"
No-ones tearing the Jaguar a new arsehole, as Im sure some of the people on here as collectors likely own one.
Why are you taking any remotely anti-jag comment personally? If you think Im wrong, read your last post back and see if you think youre getting a little shouty about it.
Also, this IS a 3do forum, regardless of peoples general love toward ALL retro gaming, are you really not expecting any bias/dedication to the console?
"Didn' mean ta burst ya bubble"
The capital letters were becuase not more than a post or two above his post, I already stated that the Jaguar is the full arcade version, but since, apparently, he didn't see it, I used capitals to make sure it was seen this time. For future reference, I'm not angry or attacking anyone or anything when I use capitals, it's only for emphasis. It stands out and it seems a lot of people need it to stand out, or they miss it.
And of course I'm expecting bias toward the 3DO in a 3DO forum, but I've been a 3DO and Jaguar fan for many years, and the disinformation fo the two consoles the gets spewed out on many forums is what upsets me, and yes, I did jump to conclusions with your Club Drive post, and I apologized, I'm just a 3DO&jaguar fanatic, so sometimes I get a bit zealous at hunting down disinformation/misinformation. Don't take it personally, please, it's just what it is after years of defending against disinformation. The fact is, I would like the 3DO version of Dragon's Lair better, if it was complete like the Jaguar version, becuase it does have clearer video, but I prefer the Jaguar version becuase it's complete, even if I have to put up with inferior FMV quality to the 3DO version, but "piss-poor" is an exageration, the FMV isn't THAT bad. Again, I apologize for my emphasis in capitals, but don't take it as anger toward an individual, just emphasis and zeal against disimformation.
