Besides the price, the fact it doesn't have 3DO related markings is a bit of a turn-off.
Unlike what the auction description states, I do not believe this to be a promotional item for UMKIII/3DO. If it were a promotional item for the game on the 3DO, it would almost certainly have a 3DO logo of some sort embroidered on it.
Instead, what I think this might be is one of probably a few pieces of in-house team-building project related paraphernalia meant for Panasonic emplyees working on the UMKIII port. I could be wrong, though.

Sounds reasonable to me. UMKIII for 3DO had adverts, it was promised to be based on the latest build, etc ... you'd expect to find the 3DO logo somewhere.
