The Hunger Games

Post by Trev » Sun Mar 25, 2012 4:07 pm

Took my wife to the movies yesterday, and we ended up watching this one. Anybody else see it, or plan to?

It seems to be another one of those hyped things I am just not going to care about because I am getting "old". No plans. You really don't want to know the last movie I went to go see in the theater. lulz.

I'll probably end up seeing it at some point in the near future. A buddy of mine absolutely loved the books and he's been pumped about the movie for a while.

If I hadn't heard of the books and they used the same trailer that they are now, there would be no chance in Hell that I was see it. The trailers make the movie look like it'll be a convoluted mess. It just seems like poor marketing.

Anyway, what did you think of the flick then, Trev? I haven't heard what anyone's opinions are on the movie yet.

Much better than I thought it would be actually. I went in w/low expectations really ... I hadn't heard too much about it (surprisingly) and my wife picked it, but I thought it was good. The theme wasn't the freshest, but I thought it was executed well. It had nice setup, most of the acotrs were good, etc ... it kept me entertained. :)

If you'd rather not spend the money though, just play level 3 of Flashback. The Death Tower/Cyber Tower is sorta the same idea as Hunger Games, 20 yrs earlier.

Ha! Nice! I've got that game coming in the mail right now too. My buddy who read the books compared it to Midgar from Final Fantasy 7, with all of the different districts and stuff.

At the very worst, I'll see it 8392759823 times when they air it on ABC Family during their weekly Harry Potter marathons they run.

I thought about seeing it until I saw all the hype around it. Maybe I'll wait until the end of its run when the theaters will be empty..

Seriously though, it peaked my interest slightly. Gave me the notion that maybe it was sort of an Americanized "Battle Royale". Man that movie was messed up!

Oh man, Battle Royale is truly fantastic, ain't it? A truly genius movie. Too bad the sequel made Ghostbusters 2 look like Citizen Kane...

OOOH. THE NEW ONE? HOW IS IT? I really wanted to see that one but I couldn't ever get the time to swing to the theater. I love the Muppets.

It was good. If you watched the tv show in the late 70's/early 80's, you'll like it even more.

I almost fell asleep at The Hunger Games.

The main concept is identical to Battle Royale. Add in 1.5 hours of political 99%'ers, and you have Hunger Games.

I don't understand the appeal of this movie at all. It's PG-13 and moves at a snail's pace. I guess since people don't know about Battle Royale, they think it's a good concept. It isn't.

I loved it! It was so funny I was in tears! TONS of star walk-ons and great songs. Hell it won an Oscar for Best Original Song! You really need to watch it asap!

Once again, I am the sole defender of Spam. I love the stuff and I don't care how it's made! It tastes good!

Also, you haven't lived until you've had a Spam cheesecake. Seriously. That stuff is awesome.

Haha.. Maybe I'll modify it and shrink it down a bit so it's not so intrusive as a sig.

http://www.tastebook.com/recipes/122959 ... Cheesecake

There's a link to the recipe. Seriously, it's quite good.

Also, I finally saw The Hunger Games last night. Is that seriously the state of humanity at this point? Murders of children that we are supposed to care about but instead they're simply treated as props to be cast aside in the film. It is an evil and hateful movie that is doing a huge disservice to us. Had it come out in 1980 and had a smaller budget but kept the same plot, it would've been called an exploitation film. It's sickening and awful.

The only good parts were the musical score and Woody Harrelson. That guy is a genius.

i saw it
i gotta say it caused a lot of emotions and thoughts. Different ones.
I realize the story is made up, but it is a little...illogical.
If there was a government that treated its people like that, they would start a war.
And how could they possibly think the hunger games were fun and expect competitors to like fighting each other?
Anyway... all that aside, it was interesting. T
he bee thing, the fire dress, the opposition, the despair. Love.
It was worth seeing
