PS1 games on 3DO?
Alright, another one of those "theoretical questions":
Which (early) PS1 games could also have been realized on the 3DO?
I vote for "GTA".
And I also would love to see "Wipeout" on the 3DO. Even if it runs
only at 3.5fps, just to see, how the 3DO would do it in direct comparison.

I've been thinking about this question for a while. A few that came to mind ...
NBA Live '96 - Used the same engine EA developed for the 3DO version of Fifa & Virtual Stadium Baseball. (I would have loved this great sim to compliment the arcade antics of Slam n Jam.)
Blazing Dragons - Had Crystal Dynamics not gotten ticked at 3DO for tweaking its licence fees, I wouldn't be surprised if this point n' clicker landed on it. Come to think of it, almst any PS1 game in this genre from around that time (Discworld, Silverload, ALien Virus, etc...) would have fitted well
Overblood - - Early PS1 game from Riverhill that shares a fair amount w/their earlier 3DO import, Dr. Hauzer. Would have been slightly less polygons sure, but I bet they could've pulled it off.

Not so sure about R-Type Delta. There was a lot going on in that game..
R-Types on the other hand (ports of the arcade R-Type and R-Type II) would have been totally doable.
Some earlier titles I think could have been done, based on what I have seen accomplished on the 3DO: Mortal Kombat 3, Raiden Project, Silverload, Street Fighter the Movie (sorry, couldn't help it), Krazy Ivan, Kileak, Descent. Probably more but my brain just died thinking of others, ha.

Ah, that makes sense. I should have thought to check under the game's Japanese title(San Goku Shi IV). Thanks for the correction.3DOKid wrote:i think it did :Martin III wrote:I bet the 3DO could have handled Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV no problem.

What's interesting though w/the games you mentioned (at least for me) is that they haven't held up well ...
Take Destruction Derby for instance ... I was just playing it last week (it was one of my favorite & most memorable psx games as a teen in the mid 90's) W/the newness & wow factor stipped away though, I actually found it kinda dull. It still had the nostalgia value, but I can't revisit it in the same way I can say Need for Speed, Road Rash, or even Ridge Racer.
Likewise, Toshiden was a jaw dropping game that I had a lot of fun w/back in the day ... now it feels shallow. ( I guess even at the time it kinda did w/the likes of Tekken & VF2, etc ... certainly when compared to 2d classics like SFII & Sam. Sho.) Like you guys, I knew they were system sellers for Sony, and that 3DO was near the end ... but I also had more fun w/my 3DO.
A psx game w/more depth that I would have loved to have seen on 3DO (and it could have handled it) ... Suikoden!
