Really cool 3DO REAL Sampler disc footage!...

Post by dave4shmups » Fri Sep 23, 2011 5:46 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnszJyvePtc That's sweet! I would love to get a hold of one of these discs!

What I can't understand is why video cd movies, cartoon shows, and the like were never released for either the 3DO or the Jaguar CD unit. If these were available, I would definitely buy some for my 3DO.

There are the three licensed Woody Woodpecker titles for the 3DO, and Toontime in the Classroom as well.

In Japan there are also several Fairy tale discs like Hansel & Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood. Also, there is a B version of this demo that contains a different video besides Thumbelina, but I can't remember the video that replaced it.

Compared to the various CD-i's flexible software based VCD players, the hardware one of the 3DO seems a bit rigid, but playback to me seems smoother than the non-Philips CD-i progs. Still a nice collectable though, as is the Sega Saturn one.

The different video was an episode of Batman: The Animated Series. I believe Two Stupid Dogs was released for 3DO on something like a sampler disc.

Oops, that's what I get for not looking at the video all the way. Batman & 2 Stupid Dogs was on that disc... The replacement for Thumbelina was the Photo CD demo.

I have this disc. I just assumed it was dirt common and came with every FZ-1. I always liked that it had a Batman episode. I LOVE that show.

Of all the 3DO demo discs I have, this one is still my favorite. :)

The way you can move around to different menu's reminds me of the Namco Museums on the PS1-and that's impressive, since I'm assuming this disc came out in 1993.
