I had a hard time getting into SMW ... probably because I didn't own an SNES during its commercial life (I had a Genesis and than moved straight to 3DO)Austin wrote:Either SMB for the NES, or SMW for the SNES. Probably the later.
I absolutely loved SMB3, and I've loved subsequent Mario games like 64 & Sunshine. For me though, SMW was only ok. I tried to really like it, and I still do on occasion ... oh man, I'm starting to sound like 3DOKid!

I can't think of a packin game. Launch day games?
Predictably, ridge racer, and also virtua fighter (ps1 and saturn) arcade in the home
I had the STe discovery pack, and none of that leapt out at me. Pacman on the 2600 was with hindsight naff, but as a 9 year old I was hooked.
Soul edge? On the DC was very cool.
Nintendo do it better than anyone else. I loved nintendogs on the DS I always liked the asthetics of sonic on the megadrive, but the game didn't bond with me.
So, Ridge Racer on the ps1. Repeating, simple, speed and skill based test, that required no thought and allowed me to zone out, and looked awesome.I could relax while playing it

Oh, man, I forgot about the best pack-in bundle, period. The Turbo DUO! I believe it was packed with a random TurboChip, Ys Books I & II on CD, and the compilation disc with Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge, Gate of Thunder (CD), and the hidden Bomberman. Zing!!
I mean if we can talk outside of launch games, there are a lot of great pack-ins. Killer Instinct on the SNES, DOOM and then later Virtua Fighter on the 32X, Jet Set Radio Future & Sega GT 2002 on the XBOX, Sonic 1, then Sonic 2 on the Genesis, Super Mario 3 on the NES, Gex on the 3DO, etc., etc., etc.

the only pack in games ive ever had were
7800 - pole position
Genesis - altered beast
TG-16 - Bonk and keith (which is the best out of the 3)
these are the only systems i bought new before Funcoland opened
i had to pay 39 cents for my NES SMB game

I tend to forget the bundles ... but you're right, the Turbo Duo one was sweet!
The Sega cd had a pretty good pack-in bundle to ... I think it was Sherlock Holmes & a 5 in 1 disc of Sega classics (the latter might have only been for CDX, can't remember) A nice deal before they switched the pack-in to Sewer Shark.
