Genesis on Jaguar?

It does float! And doesn't get soggy in milk! :)

Genesis on Jaguar?

Post by phatrat1982 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 2:26 pm

I know it is a long shot but is there any chance it would be possible to run Sega Genesis or Sega CD games on Jaguar hard ware? I was wondering this because the two share so much internal stuff I wondered if there was a way to run Sega games on a Jag. Either via emulation or a cart mod or through the cd add-on?

It would take far too much effort for this.

Isn't the 68000 the only thing that's similar?

You would be best to move on, as this is slightly silly to even consider.

A private message would have been good in a case like this.

So I take it the answer is basically no, good enough.

The 68k on the Jaguar was twice the clock as genesis but merely a housekeeping cpu. Tom and Jerry were the main processors.

Highlighted is the only similarity on the entire jaguar board.

Ok well I did not know that I was under the impressions the Jaguar was just a Genesis on steroids or something like that. Obviously my information was incorrect which is why I came here to ask thanks for the info you cleared that up.

Most systems back then were pretty different from one another. The Genesis different from the SNES. The Jaguar's different from the 3DO. The CD-i is different from, well, everything. Etc.

Looking at something a little more feasible, I believe the Turbo Grafx uses the same CPU as the NES though and supposedly it's pretty easy to port NES games over to it (someone did this with the original Mega Man a while back).
