Hi everyone, When I connect my US FZ-1 3DO to my Sony Crt through S-Video it displays in Black and white, both the system and the games are US version, I am stuck, could it be the TV?
Thanks
Paul
S-Video displaying in black and white
Hello, and welcome to 3DO Zone.
It sounds as if your Sony is only receiving the luminance information from the S-Video connection. It could be the 3DO, the S-Video cable or the Sony TV.
Do you have anyother S-Video cable you can try? Do you have another S-Video source (DVD, etc.) that you could hook up to your Sony over the same S-Video cable?
The pins in a four pin mini-DIN connector (the terminations used in most S-Video cables) are somewhat fragile so it could very well be the cable.

Many TVs need to be told if there's a S-Video signal coming in.
2 of my TVs have one AV channel combined for Composite and S-Video,
so I can switch between AV 2 and AV 2/s.
Using AV2 with S-Video connected causes a black and white picture,
since the TVs assumes that a composite cable is connected - and therefor only uses the luminance line of the S-Video cable.
