Kidney...? Hope you're ok!Trev wrote:... spent last night in the hospital. Surgery is scheduled for 1:30. Bye bye stone!
Same kidney stone actually (bout the size of a dime) ... thought I left it in Maine, but guess not.
Surgery wen't well. Its wierd this amnesia type thing, but I don't even remember getting the spinal. Like one second I'm waiting for the nurse to instruct me and then, boom, I'm in recovery.
Stayed 2 nights, the extra was to make sure I could keep food down. Puking sucks, but specially when you have nothing to puke up!
Home now w/my wife taking good care of me. Pain is okay except when I have to .... well, you get the idea. Will be on my back for a few days, so nothing to do but play video games & be on the forum ...

Part of the reason you guys haven't seen me around much lately has been related to a kidney problem of my own which has also been causing my body to put extra stress on my heart & thyroid. Just awaiting the results of a biopsy now but everything seems to be returning to normal. Just like the Kid recent events are conspiring to prompt a collection downsize - but this time I intend to keep fhe 3DO but pretty much shed the rest. As I do it though I'll take pics and upload them to the colle tion thread for prosperity. I hope you all stay well - Matt

I feel for you Matty ... I hope things do indeed return to normal for you, and soon. Be thinking about you.
As for me ... I passed a shard of stone! 1 down, who knows how many to go. I have no idea how many bits the surgeon broke my initial stone into, but he siad they 'really had to work at it to break it up.' Heres hoping more are just around the corner.

Trev, you have probably done this a thousand times over and I am probably an idiot for saying this, but please look into the possibilities of what causes (and detracts) kidney stones, and please follow them to a T (unless you get another)! If you are getting them regularly, please make sure that you are at least doing everything you can that the books say to NOT get them.... If you still get them, then, *#)@.. I don't know what to say.
You aren't an idiot man, and I appreciate your comments.
My personal hunch for contributing factors were mainly caffeine and salt, and I've already gone a ways into shrinking both from my diet.
Every doctor, nurse, specialist, etc... that I've seen always ask "Is there a family histroy of stones?" and there is. Both my grandpa from my dad's side and my mom have had stones on repeated occasion. They suggest genetics, and while I have my doubts I'm no doctor.
I've thankfully only had two in my life. One about ten years ago which lasted for a week and I passed on my own, and this one which has lasted 5+ months and needed surgery. With my change in diet as well as a supplement regimen, I'm hoping it will be' two and through.'
It could be much worse. At least I was only in the hospital for two days, and they didn't have to cut me for the operation. I'm home recovering w/a good wife to take care of me, an internet connection, plenty of video games, etc... I'm gonna be all right.

Ha ha, there is a game that definitely doesn't promote rest. If I ever need to increase the stress in my life though, it will be nominee.BryWI wrote:Glad to hear everything is working out for the best Trev. Rest easy, and play some battletoads. No wait, you can't do both of those at the same time. THAT DAMN GAME!

Its a sign of living the good life.
My old boss used to always get gout, his foot/ankle would swell like a bowling ball. It was pretty gross, yet kinda cool at the same time. Like, I wanted to snap a photo of it and submit it to that black & white tabloid "Man is pregnant in foot" (only w/much less lame sounding title)
Tart cherry & celery seed are popular supplements for gout.
