Korean 3DO Hardware - Alive and the like

Post by Madroms » Sat Jun 11, 2011 4:30 pm

Here are some (big) pictures of what I have for the Korean Hardware collection.
Sorry for the watermarks, I had some problems in the past with my pictures being stolen and reposted here and there.

1) 3DO Alive:

Same as the bitrate one from here: http://cdinteractive.co.uk/3do/forum/vi ... php?t=2058

As I am moving my office right now, I have too much stuff at home and I didn't find it in my mess. So here are the pictures made for me by the guy who sold it to me some years ago (not in box unfortunately):

2) 3DO Alive II:

Here is my Goldstar model (not in box unfortunately):

3) 3DO Goldstar VCD Module:

And here is the rare Korean VCD Card for the Goldstar  :

If you have any other korean 3DO hardware, please post here

I got those korean stuff from a guy in Germany who has a contact in South Korea
This was in 2008 and 2009.

Was the PS1 released before or after the Alive II? It looks VERY similar to the first gen PS1.

Do you mean the remodelled PSOne? It definitely looks like both PS1 models, but in particular the PSOne. But anyway, yeah I think the Goldstar until came first. But then again it would be typical Sony to rip off everyone else's ideas and pass them on as their own

I was referring to the original PS1, since obviously the redesigned PSone came after the 3DO

Does no Goldstar unit have a S-Video output? I remember my first 3DO, a regular Goldstar, and it didn't have S-Video as well! Why?

For the exact opposite reason the PS3 had loads and loads of ports. Ports cost money and shove the price of the unit up. design costs, manufacturing costs, etc.

no s-video? poor 32bit system, almost everything after after snes had the s-video... thats really cutting corners
70/30 chance it could be added as a mod.

Despite some opinions I've so far read here - S-Video
improves the picture quality a lot.
I wouldn't want to miss it, even if there's no RGB.
I just kind of like sharp contoures. ;)
