The nicest thing you can say...

Post by 3DOKid » Mon May 23, 2011 10:33 pm

...about the game you think is worst on 3DO.

1. Cyberdillo. Good frame rate. There is no denying it.
2. BC Racer. The animation at the start is good.
3. Primal Rage. The sprites are pretty.

Your turn. I'm off to wash my mouth out. :)

Rise of the Robots. It's got multiple music tracks.

The teaser to Neurodancer.

While I didn't think it was the worst, merely bad, the fun intro and Australian indie tracks in Quarantine were great.

I have a bizarre love/hate thing with Dragon Lore that I'm not sure I can articulate. There was a sub-realness to it that pleased me.

You have a knack for articulation. 'Sub-Realness' that sums up my love for mid-1990s 3D. It's just so obviously artificial, it's computer. I really love it.

Having been in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, I was also confused by the epic sounds that built up in the game's virtual counterparts. Caves only make sounds like that if they also happen to be giant mouths

1. Way of the Warrior: White Zombie tunes. Sweet.
2. Alone in the Dark 2: The fact that the 3DO even got it. Yeah.
3. Shadow - War of Succession: So cheesy, it's amazing to laugh at.

Hey compared to the SNES version with NO music it makes a difference. It still plays just as bad though.

Does the 3DO version really have music? None played outside of the cutscenes on my version, and that was with music and sounds enabled in the options (pretty sure there was an option for them, anyway). Maybe I had a bad disc..

Killing Time: Bad framerate, but interesting story and great music

AD&D Death Keep: Very difficult, somewhat poor framerate, but still good game.

Way of The Warrior: Extremely cheesy, MK ripoff. Great White Zombie tunes.

I haven't yet played Cyberdillo, but from looking at the screenshots, am I the only one that thinks it looks like that 3D Maze Screensaver that was in Windows 95?

20th century almanac. It has more facts than the farmers almanac.

You really think this is the 3DO's worst game?

Same here. In fact, Immercenary is probably among my better liked 3DO games.

Maybe you should make it mandatory that people stick w/the game until it gets good (easier) You know, under the threat of ban requests maybe.

Agreed - although "Ban Requests" have lost their authority I suspect. I'm planning on unleashing double-dog ban request. Yes, that will show them.

As for Immercenary. Firstly, it is a good game if you stick with it like you say. Also, it's almost a perfect representation of the early 1990s. Cyberpunk, Lawn Mower Man, Jacking into the Net, FMV in games, 3D, it's got everything, it is, in its way, iconic.

Cyberia - The SHADES puzzles. Some of them are quite ingenious.

Brain Dead 13 - The sequence where Lance pulls the rug up on Fritz made me laugh my head off.

Some positive aspects of a few recent disasters I played:

Fun & Games - Er.. It was developed by Williams! (What the hell??)

Johnny Bazookatone - It at least runs smoothly. Sometimes. (A bit of a shame that the actual design part sucks.)

Phoenix 3 - It's another 2D action game on the 3DO asides from Gex and Soccer Kid! That's about all it has going for it though..

Alfred Hitchcock Presents - the soundtrack isn't too bad.

Shadow: War of Succession - well, it's certainly memorable...
