I don't know very many people who have even used a 3DO. I'm an all around gaming fanatic so I try to sample everything. But I don't really think 3DO is a platform with endless long-lost treasures to enjoy.... Neither is Jag. However they both do have a few interesting historical gaming curiosities that show innovation, and lots of nostalgia attached for people who followed all of this stuff closely back when it was "teh hot newness" (especially if they were unobtainable at the time).
Thankfully I didn't have to pay $700 to sample the library.
Imagine if you had been a early 3DO adopter and waited eagerly for software but watched the library of primarily ultra shitty software grow, peppered with only a few decent titles. That's where the rep comes from. 3DO wasn't even primarily games, but also got some of that early/mid '90s multimedia garbage. Trip Hawkins didn't really understand entertainment software IMO and his competition kicked his ass.
