What other systems do you own?

Post by Mobius » Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:41 am

I'm not usually a fan of "post X list" threads on message boards, but I'm actually pretty curious about what systems other 3DO fans are into. Some people seem to like to devote themselves to a system and amass everything it has to offer (like Jaguar fans, Neo-Geo fans, and apparently some 3DO fans). Myself, I enjoy collecting systems and sampling a bit of what they have. So, I have a lot of systems, but comparatively fewer games per system, I suppose. Anyway, here's my list:

Nintendo:
NES
Super NES
Nintendo 64
GameCube
Wii
Game Boy
Game Boy Pocket
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Advance SP
Nintendo DS
Virtual Boy

Sega:
Genesis
Saturn
Dreamcast

Other:
Panasonic 3DO (FZ-1)
Neo-Geo CDZ
Atari Jaguar
PlayStation 2
Xbox
TurboDuo

And here's my game collection:

http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&lid= ... &mode=vown

Even though I don't play them much these days, I'd say the N64 and Saturn are my all-time favorite systems, though somehow I ended up with more PS2 games. :)

My next acquisition will probably be a Turbo Duo.

The Duo is a great system worth owning. It also has a slew of japenese titles that were never ported if you are into the import scene.

I'll have to count my systems as I can't recall them all off the top of my head.

A tour of my basement ...

Working Consoles & Handhelds:

Atari VCS 2600
Colecovision
3DO
N64 (x2: one is for sale)
PS2
Wii
GameBoy Color

Unconventional Retro Toys:

80's Coleco Mini-Arcades (Pac Man, DK, Galaxian, Zaxxon, DKJ)
ActionMax

Other goodies to game on:

I own a dozen PCs, or the parts to build a dozen functional PCs. From P-166 MMXs running DOS6/WfW311 to play Doom to modern P4-3.2 systems running XP Pro, I've got a PC in virtually every room in the house, one hooked up to a 46" TV with dual ATI TV tuners which makes Unreal Tournament, well ... unreal, and one that's storing over 120Gb of music to broadcast to any room of my home using Apple's AirPort. I've got a few laptops, and even still have my trusty old Apple IIe with color monitor and dual disk drives, and about 100 5-1/4" floppies worth of software that still boots.

My pride & joy:

Williams' Tales of the Arabian Nights pinball, fully functional and no credit dot.

Lost/destroyed due to a flood:

NES 8-Bit
Sega Master System

I think that about covers my digital toys. Sadly, I've got even more invested in board games, RPG books, Magic the Gathering cards, HeroScape, etc ... etc ...

im not sure its worth it, you know the black plastic hardcases that systems go in? (like the Saturn, 3DO, N64, TurboGrafx-16)

its basicly a full sized Philips CDI 220 inside a black plastic hardcase that is supposed to hold a N64 system

here is a pic of all my cases

Off the top of my head I probably have around 20 different models of CD-i player. The usual current host of machines including GameCube, PS2 and XBOX. Retro wise from memory the following; Genesis MK3, Nomad, Megadrive, SNES, N64, PSX, Saturn, Jaguar, 3DO [Goldstar I think!], Amiga, JVC X'EYE and probably a bunch of others I don't even remember.

Come to think of it my GameBoy Micro which is just fabulous! Picked up one of those flashcarts and been enjoying the conversion of Another World ever since :D

I have the following:

Atari 2600
Sega Master System
Nintendo Entertainment System
SEGA Mega Drive
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
SEGA Mega CD
Panasonic 3DO
SEGA Saturn
PlayStation 1
Nintendo 64
SEGA Dreamcast
PlayStation 2
Nintendo GameCube
Xbox
Xbox 360

I am not getting a PS3 till about 3 years as it is just far too expensive and very disappointing, Nintendo has just left South Africa which means that I will have to import Wii and any game I want just like I had to for SNES, N64, Dreamcast and 3DO... very frustrating indeed. :(

I like your Resident Evil 4 toys!

Nice horde of stuff, what sort of regional releases did you get in South Africa through the ages?

My console horde

Post by triffid_98 » Sun Mar 25, 2007 8:01 am

3DO (test box)
Atari 2600
Atari Jaguar
Colecovision
Intellivision
Nintendo NES
Nintendo SNES
Nintendo N64
Sony PSX
Turbo Grafx-16
Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Sega 32X
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
Sega Pico

I love games. Emulators are cool but there's no better emulator than the actual hardware, even if that means H/W cleaning and/or repair.

Plus most of these consoles are dirt cheap these days, there's really no excuse for not owning them if they have exclusive games you enjoy.

Cheers,
-Dave

Do you mean PAL/NTSC?

If so, SA works on PAL but I have NTSC console like the N64 and 3DO.

Yeah, it's a shame that NEC couldn't quite compete w/Sega & Sony (atleast in the U.S.) Maybe if we had gotten more of the sweet japanese games ...

I too love my Duo. Good times indeed! :)

-Magnavox Odyssey²
-Atari 2600
-Panasonic 3DO FZ1
-Panasonic 3DO FZ10
-Sony Playstation
-Sega Dreamcast
-Microsoft Xbox

I can see why. Honestly, I may never buy another console or PC based RPG ever again. Of course, I'll miss the Warcrafts and Neverwinter Nights and so on ... but playing RPGs on the DS whenever I can steal 30 minutes here or an hour there -- it's just too handy. The DS-as-Wii controller connectivity aspect looks like it'll be really cool too. I hope devs push a lot of games that use it.

In two weeks I've bought two DSes (one for me and then another for my wife yesterday so I could get mine back) and my initial purchase drove four of my friends to buy DSes as well.

here's my meager current list

Panisonic FZ-10
Xbox 360
Xbox
Playstation 1 (original style)
Playstation II (original style_
GameCube (black)
GameGear
Gameboy SP (blue)
Gameboy DS (Original style silver)
Gameboy (original )
Gameboy (play it loud series clear)
Commidor 64

Now for the sad part, I had a "decent" collection but had to sell them before I moved

Sega Master System I
Sega Master System II
Sega Genesis I
Sega Genesis II
Sega 32X
Turbo Graphx 16
Nintendo Entertainment System (top load model)
Nintendo Super Game Boy (not a full system but ..well)
Gameboy Color x3 (different colors)
Gameboy Advance x2 (different colors)
Nintendo Virtual Boy
Sega Saturn (black)
Sega Dreamcast
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Game Boy Player
Atari 2600
and one Mystery system (had it many many years ago don't remember anything except the paddle style controllers with a black dial on the top & coiled cord

I will be adding a Wii to my collection in a couple weeks for the main reason that my MOTHER (who hated video games when I grew up) actually enjoyed playing it with my brother's little girl's ...and if i'm lucky I will rebuild my original collection plus.

the only black i remember on it was the cord and the dial it was mostly tan/brown ...I can't remember all the details of what the actual unit looked like, however there is a slim chance that I know where it is, and if so I'll dig it out I have little hope of it actually working, but might be neat just to look at
