Recommend an uncommon game for any other platform (must be older than a 360) that doesn't fit into any other sticky.

Rules:

1 - Nothing to be posted on common games like: Castlevania, Okami, Sonic the hedgehog, Mario or any top 50 games. Uncommon games only. If in doubt, ask. i.e. PM 3DOkid.

2 - Write a 2 line review. War and Peace will be deleted.

3 - No comments on other peoples recommendations. If you want to comment, start a new thread in the General Forum with the title of the game.

4 - Positive posts only. Remember: "Recommend" not "Slag off"

JJ & Jeff for the Turbo 16. In the age of platformer's this one always stood out to me w/it's rather strange character's, settings, & enemies. It is no Bonk, but still a good game for Turbo fans.

Ports of call - For the Amiga, IMHO theres something compelling about running a shipping company from your sofa. Really good sim game for the old amiga, A bit of strategy involved, just watch out for the icebergs!

JJ & Jeff and Tricky Kick were my favorite games for Turbo Graphics. For anyone who doesn't know, I was thrilled when they released JJ & Jeff on the Wii Virtual Console in the US. Grab it if you get the chance, it's well worth the $8. A genuinely imaginitive and funny side scroller with goofy music, where you actually have to avoid falling bird poop...nuff said.

Tricky Kick is another story. It's hard to explain, but it was a puzzle game that had you finding your way out of a center area by kicking objects out your way. The objects would slide until they hit a wall or another object, so you had to plan ahead. There was most often only one way to get out. Again, I'm not doing it justice. If you get the chance, check it out. It's one of a kind.

There are bunches more great forgotten, overlooked, and obscure games out there. I'll be back to this thread soon :P

The Classic Lotus Trilogy for the Amiga cd32. The value of 3 games on 1 disc more than makes up for their somewhat antiquated feel. Third game has a track editor too. And, unlike many cd32 games, this runs perfect on an NTSC machine. Great racing games!

Plants VS Zombies, altough it's a pretty popular game by now, there's still some people who did not played it yet.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
It's a game about plants who kills zombies, what's not to like?

Maken X

very short levels, easy gameplay, good learning curve, last
levels are frustrating. Casual game, one of the most disturbing
stories and design ever.

Very cool looking. I might have to get it, but shouldn't this be posted in Recommend a Sega game? Still thanks for the suggestion!

Maken X is cool. Speaking of which, I should pick that one up again.. Never got very far in it personally, but I have no idea why--I liked it a lot.

Blue's Journey is a fun little game for the Neo Geo. Not typical of the consoles library, this platformer is very bright & colorful, has a nice bouncy soundtrack, and (best of all) 2-player co-op. :)

Yeah, that's a solid little game! I completely forgot about that one. I bought that on a whim off the Virtual Console stuff for the Wii back when I had one and really enjoyed it. I second this motion!

I triple this motion! Or, erm.. I third this motion! Or.. yeah.. It's a good game, for sure. :)

Another one that's kinda-sorta-not-really similar for the Neo is Top Hunter.

Ys III (Turbo CD version). Seems like Ys fans make a big deal about this one being side-scrolling instead of overhead, but honestly, the gameplay has the same hyper pace, general mechanics, and overall feel as Ys I, II, and IV. The lack of puzzles and mazes means you can blitz through the game very quickly, the story is solid, and the music is some of the best of any video game I've played. Seriously, the soundtrack is even better than Ys Book I and II.

Yes, the music in Ys III is exellent. If you haven't checked it out, be sure to look up some tunes from the PC & PSP remake, Ys: Oath in Felghana. They are incredible.

Exhumed (Power Slave) on Saturn. Damn is this game a fast shooter!
Superior to Playstation Version. Absolutely. Never seen a Game that fast
back in the 90ies, except for the Quake Versions on PC. We were very
impressed then. The learning curve is perfect, the jump sequences also.
Very powerful 3D engine. Recommended! Playability today: Above 70%.
The Playstation version is the "Old Man" Edition.

Dungeons of Daggorath for Tandy CoCo*. The system's killer app, a wireframe real-time first-person dungeon crawler. Your health is your heartbeat, your ears are almost as important as your eyes, and your nightmares will never be the same afterwards. :D Play it alone, late at night, in a silent house...and when a monster sneaks up on you, it'd be wise to have a change of underwear handy.

*(More-or-less perfect fanports to Windows/DOS, Linux, and Macintosh are also available.)
