I might not be able to go see my family for X-Mas (as a work for a scrooge) but this year I can enjoy my eggnog the Griswold family way!

For years I've seen American people on TV drinking Eggnog at Christmas.

What is it? Is it universally liked?

Eggs, sugar, milk, cream, nutmeg and many times booze (generally rum or brandy). I don't care for mine to have liquor and couldn't have it with that now if I wanted. Different people put different alcohol into it, but when sold in the grocery store it's non-alcoholic.

Yes, those who don't enjoy it are banished to Canada. Where they drink it too but are more forgiving.

Thanks folks.

I still have to have a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

And the jelly, that's what i would call Jam? Right?

Is the 'Jelly' is flavoured? Strawberry? Elderberry? What?

Jelly and Jam are different. Jam is closer to preserves and jelly is more in the way of spreadable jello. And then there is marmalade yuk! In the north east raspberry is the most common, or mixed fruit.

Damn. Robertson's Marmalade rocks! 8)

Also, is Eggnog in any way similar to that Dutch Advocaat stuff? Sounds similar...

I loved Eggnog as a kid. A couple years ago I had the opportunity to have some again, and, well... I liked it on my tongue, but it made my stomach very uneasy. Sort of, "Man that tasted good, but I think it's going to make me sick in about five seconds." Truly a strange experience.

Vanilla Eggnog is tasty. I haven't had any in years though.
