Get Resident Evil for it, and i think Luigi's Mansion is out soon too.

The best way to thank your wife, is completely ignore her for 6 weeks while you play through the best games. ;)

Trev, let me know if you want to trade friend codes. I actually have 2 3DS systems. I also collect 3DS games. I have about 70 games. I don't have most of the major titles though. I buy games cheap from amazon. So if you have any questions on some of the lesser known games, I might be able to answer them. I might have to crack the plastic wrap off a lot of them though. lol. I haven't gotten around to playing them all.

PS. I am also upset that they have not released the circle pad pro for the XL 3DS yet in america. Japan and Europe both have them. I just imported it on Amazon. I thought for sure it would come out with monster hunter 3 ultimate.... but nope! CPP makes Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D pretty awesome I hear.

PSS Did you get the XL? Perhaps you got the limited edition pikachu one that came out yesterday in America? hehe.

It came out over here yesterday, not sure about Europe.

Didn't get the XL, just an original model ... got an all black one. I'm hoping the XL will be released in some different colors here in the States like an all white, a dark green, etc ...

The Pikachu one was long gone when we went shopping ... we were at Target where they were on sale for only $159.99 I think. Not that I'd really want one ... I don't care for the yellow and the camera placement that looks like nipples, lol. Plus I've never played a Pokémon game, ever ... yeah, I'm that guy. :P

Yeah, I'd trade codes BryWI. I actually only downloaded a few e-shop games so far. I got Mutant Mudds ... awesome old school Nes style platformer (on sale too!) Gunman Clive ... even though it's short, I was surprised how polished it is. A great looking and sounding Mega Man type game (a steal at $2!) And I downloaded Link's Awakening DX ... I haven't played the game in over 10 years (and it was the b&w version) Such good memories though ... it's one of my favorite Zelda games.

I'd definitely enjoy hearing some suggestions on lesser known games. Especially as a lot of the popular titles are over $30 each, it would be a nice way to start building my collection. Sound like you've got a nice collection already BryWI. :)

@ 3DOKid ... the ignoring thing might work as long as she doesn't get a glimpse of the Zelda game I downloaded. She loved Link to the Past, and the GBC game has a very similar look. Gotta have Netflix running on it if she is in viewing range.

HAHAHAHA

I will eventually get a 3DS XL, the blue one. So I now know who to talk to when I get one.

They're just nipples! Tiny little protuberances! I've got them... 3DOKid's got them... everybody's got them! :D

...Now that I've got the referencing of old TV shows out of my system: I picked up a 3DS last month, specifically the Fire Emblem: Awakening limited edition. I'm a Fire Emblem fan, and the reviews for Awakening have been quite laudatory. Nor have I been disappointed in the least; I'm nowhere near the end of the game, but I think I can confidently say that this is the best Fire Emblem I've ever played.

I second Trev's request for recommendations on lesser-known games. It'll take me awhile to finish Fire Emblem: Awakening, and I haven't even started on Super Mario 3D Land yet, but I do want to get at least a couple obscurities for the system at some point.

I found this recent article a good read, especially as a new 3DS owner ...

I have a question about StreetPass Mii Plaza ... when you meet a new character, what determines the most recent software they show?

Is it based on the last game that was played, the game that has been played the most hours, the game played the most number of times, or the game they have that is the most recent release?

Is there a way to see what game I'm displaying when I get tagged?

it is the last icon you clicked really.
So if you were messing with Mii Plaza, it will say you were just playing "Mii Plaza". It's funny when someone was just playing "Settings"

Your best bet with getting streetpass hits is to go to any convention or go near one. You can only download 25 at a time, so make sure you keep welcoming them all. It's the fastest way to get picture puzzle completion as well.

My 3DS actually bricked and i lost all my streetpasses, puzzle, and RPG progress. It was under warranty, but they just reflashed it pretty much. I had backed up the SD card, but it wasn't there. I haven't touched all that stuff since then. I used to travel with it all the time before that.

Okay that's good to know, thanks. So far all but one of those I tagged had Luigis Mansion 2 ... I wasn't sure if it was like an automatic advertisement type thing or something.

That sucks that you lost your progress. Did they reinstall any e-shop downloads? I've heard conflicting reports on what they do in cases like that.

they give it back as a blank canvas. My SD backup had everything but my Mii and Mii streetpass progress.

I'm waiting for a special edition 3DS xl in the US. Not the pikachu one.
The XL is just better all over.

Just a note, it wont show tha tyou last played mii plaza because it is excluded from showing that app as last played. If it was able to be shown, 90% of everyone you meet would be shown last played as mii plaza. others that wont show off the top of my head are, internet browser... hmm cant think of anymore right now... too tired.

Good to know.

I would like to say my wife has totally ignored me since i bought her Luigi's mansion. Apparently, it's pretty good. The game, not the ignoring...

So what are some of the lesser known games that I could pick up for fairly cheap that are fun? What would you suggest? I'd love to build up my library a bit, maybe with some of the launch window games. I recently picked up Pilotwings Resort, and for having paid just a little over $10 I'm having a lot of fun with it. It does feel lazy though, and I'd probably be annoyed if I had paid $40 for it. Still great fun at the budget price I paid.

How is Steel Diver? I'm curious as it's a Nintendo published title, and it is available cheap. Cooking Mama 4, Green Lantern, and other such cheapo games don't appeal to me much, lol.

So i like steel diver, but it can be a tough game. It's slow paced and simple, but there's quite a bit of challenge. You manage your ballasts to go through mazes essentially.

Mario 3DS makes excellent use of the 3d effect. Kid icarus as well. being 1st party though, you probably wont get em cheap.

I really like some of the Classic games they redid in 3d like excitebike. Most of them use the 3d effect really well.

Professor Layton's
Cave Story

it's kind of a huge library. just dont buy too many at once, or you'll never play em.

Trev, I just picked up a 3DS XL yesterday for myself. The only game I got with it is Code of Princess. Sounds goofy by name, but it's actually a really, really awesome Guardian Heroes clone.

I also have Casltevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (say that one ten times fast!), but I've yet to try it. Read average reviews on that one.

I also recommend the 3DS Classics. They are a little more expensive than your standard Virtual Console releases, but worth the extra few dollars. I snagged the Kid Icarus 3D conversion last night. I like the new backgrounds, and the 3D effect just works really well with simple 2D like this.

I hope to see some more 3D classics. I thought I had read that some SNES games would get the 3D classics treatment also, so maybe someday. The more the better though (except maybe Urban Champion)

It's been about a year since I had my original 3DS, and the one thing that has disappointed me so far is the lack of 3D Classic updates that have been added since. Hopefully they do more, and on a more consistent basis if possible.
