Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut

It had been forever and a year since I had last seen Superman II, but I just finished watching it in on instant Netflix. A pretty good fun film than has me curious about the above mentioned title. Sadly it isn't availale on instant Netflix, but I really want to see it ...
Any thoughts from those who have seen both versions? I've read that it is largely a different film despite having more or less the same plot.
