How's the CD-i port of Myst?...

Post by dave4shmups » Wed Jul 06, 2011 12:37 am

I don't have a PC that can play the PC original, AFIK, so I was wondering how good (or bad) the 3DO port is.

Your title says 'CD-i,' but your post mentions 3DO. The 3DO port of MYST is almost a PC perfect translation according to Gamepro and Gamefan.

I have a few games that are both on CD-i & 3DO ... not Myst, sadly (what am I posting for? )

It probably controls good w/the standard thumbstick controller. Of course 3DO has a mouse ...

I think I remember reading that the transitions in the CD-i version were slower when compared to other console ports.

Myst has nostagic value for me, but I like realMyst best! :)

I have it for the 3DO, it has mouse support. I have a mouse for the CD-i but I don't have Myst for it.

That makes sense.. Most CD-i games have some kind of lag or delay when selecting menu options or moving to another screen in whatever game you may be playing.

Sorry about the title. There was a mouse for the 3DO?? Nice! What other games work with it?

There already are a couple threads discussing this, and all it takes is a quick search. Here is one ...

I actually beat Myst on the 3DO first.

Couple friend and I were bored and we started playing. several hours later....we are scribbling on notepads trying to solve all the puzzles.

This was all back when the 3DO was still alive. Very cool.

I never got into Myst. My high school history teacher was obsessed with it but instead of playing the game we watched her play it as a class and that was the extent of my experience with the game. We also used to play You Don't Know Jack, Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire, and some early 3D golf game. As much video games as we played I am surprised we ever learned any history.

That's the exact one I had in mind when I wrote that.
