Very slow start, only one sale to speak of during the week, and that woman traded in three Wii games... I might be repeating, excuse me. I'm lost in a haze of ganj and red hair. So the take so far is $3.50 compared to the weekend's $130. But at least people are seeing the place.

Speaking of the redhead, we were eating at a restaurant. Some guy at the next table, girlfriend of his own, was checking mine out. My date leans over to him and says "She not enough for you? Because this one guy here is enough for me." I feel like I won the lottery.

Okay, image time:

Image

I am trying to replicate the overhead poster display with thin wire. We'll test it tomorrow, then order the posters from my distributor... it's hard getting the good ones. The moment advertising material arrives, it's like a bloodthirsty orgy and what you get is stuff from a Wii release from last year.

Friends Tim and Ryo are lobbying for me to play solid Jpop and VG music. I don't really want to go insane.

We might experiment with hiring some girls to dress up as maids on the weekend.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Cool or avid people have been finding the shop today. One of them asked if we had 3DO stuff. I said no, but we were looking to get people to trade it in. He talked about it a bit, noting it was six hundred at launch. "Seven hundred." "Really?" "Yep, launched at six-ninety-nine." Dude swore up and down he'd be back for some of the PS1 and TG16 stuff. Being the knowledgeable one brings back the smarter caliber of person.

And then some fat woman passing by audibly said to her friends "That is the most pathetic game store I have ever seen." to which I gave her a huge thumbs up with an idiotic smile on my face. Smooth, woman.

Vance, you have any pics of the place uploaded somewhere?
I'd love to stop by one of these days.

3do Experience: that's, that's, that's too far. No really. It is.

Vance, I bought my copy of Seaman and Policenauts from that store in Japan, I'm sure I did. And also, why can't you tell the fat woman in your store to f**k-off. When I'm not a salary man and work for myself, I live for those 3 little words: F**k Off B*tch.

The woman in question was outside and making a comment believing, as truly stupid people do, that their voices do not carry so well through a glass window next to an open door. As we all know, sound travels in a straight line and goes "OH SHIT, GLASS!" Of course, we are all stupid people.

I don't need to mock that anymore than it mocks itself, I feel. I try to avoid easy humor.

Anyway, much more promising Friday. A few sales later, I'm happier. I'm just going to have to reach into the bank account to purchase the shelves, which I don't want to do... a good business pays for its own expansion as well as my food. But I guess you gotta give a little, as they say...

"CUSTOMER": Do you have R4s?
ME: DILLOOOOON.
DILLON: Yes Vance?
ME: I'm hearing the voices again.
DILLON: Ugh... don't do this. This is stupid, Vance.
ME: VOICES. HEARING.
DILLON: What are they saying?
ME: They're asking if they can steal my stuff!
DILLON: You have a lot of cool stuff, Vance.

woah. Ace. We don't have market stalls of that clibre in the UK. We have endless jumper/sweater stalls for coffin dodgers. We have a healthy supply of stalls selling tinned foods produced in the stone age and more mobile-phone unlocking stalls than there are mobile phones.

We had acres of crazy stalls at this warehouse place called Frank & Son. We got kicked out because the crazy manager's friend hated us. He was a piece of work. Blamed Obama for the economy.

I'm in a conversation with a guy about how times change and technology advances fast. "Yeah, since we were kids. You know, I'm 34 now and eventually I'm going to have to say goodbye to my mother..."

And I'm think damn, this guy just took us in a dark direction. And then, the punchline:

"I'm going have to tell her 'Mom, you need to get out.'"

MUST. NOT. F**KING. LAUGH.

Two of these happened today.

Better than what you get working at a knife shop, do trust me on this. There was a Marine who forgot to clean what appeared to be brain matter and what was definitely hair before asking for a sharpening.

"Are you open?"

The dude is standing in the open doorway.

"Yes."

"Do you have DVDs or just games?"

I've learned that this means movies, in whatever vernacular you want to call Los Angeles' memetic beatdown of the language.

"No, just games."

"Oh... used ones, too?"

"Yes."

"Okay, I'm looking for one. I can't remember the name."

And he just stands there. He's standing there as I type this, just zoning out. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here.

This morning... I'm not making this up, I swear to Buddha... three asian girls surrounded me and stared at me for half a minute, in total silence. Normally I'm fine with shouldering through crowds, but it was so bizarrely unnerving that I just kind of stood there and tried to look impassive, probably failing. Then they left me alone and walked down the street.

I don't believe a word of it. Asian girls, hell girls, and 'total' silence? Pure fiction.

It does sound pretty far-fetched, but you have to remember I'm in Los Angeles. I've had to manhandle somebody's wrist after he started poking and pulling my ex-girlfriend's hair.

A few hours ago, a woman pressed her face against the glass... I think I put my head in my hands and started crying... I'm not sure, I'm pretty sure this is Jacob's Ladder and I'm dying.

I was keeping this one under wraps until I had confirmation, but after extensive copyright and trademark searches, corporate name lists, and local business licenses, I am now in business as...
