Sega 32X & CDX

I've just gotten my 32X off the shelf and decided to give it a whirl again as its been a while. However it seems that even though I have 3 Genesis units (2 model 2 & a model 1) none of them seem to work good w/it (jumping image mostly)

Since I was itching to give it a go I decided to try it w/my cdx and (even though it looks a little funny) its working great! I've read numerous stuff on the web as to why it was claimed these weren't compatible, but I thought I'd double check. Has anyone here used these 2 units in tandem? I'm not putting my cdx at risk am I?

the only problems that i can remember is that you need to make sure you use the CDX power supply with the CDX and not any other power supply
and also becareful when putting in a cart in the 32x, i remember reading that the cdx cart slot can get damaged really easily

i never needed to use my cdx with the 32x, also when i had my gen/CD/32x together i couldnt use the save on any my regular genesis EA sports games

oh do you have the plates that you stick into the genesis? maybe thats why your getting a jumpy screen
or maybe the contacts of the Genesis need to be cleaned?

Yes I do have the plates, but I'm guessing my Gen units are just not in pristine shape (I'm sure they could use a cleaning). I admit I haven't been as super gentle w/them as I have other consoles, since they are so inexpensive and I play the carts on the cdx anyway.

Does the cdx have a special plug? I swear I just have a regular Genesis adapter, but maybe I'm worng.

it probably uses the Gen 2 power supply with the yellow tip, but its been so long since ive played mine, im not really sure

i just mentioned that since everywhere you read someone always mentions use the proper PS

Come to find out it isn't the gen units acting up, but the 32X itself. (what were the odds of having 3 dud units) I guess I'll have to buy another.
