Game Gun

Post by RetroGamingBlog » Thu Aug 28, 2014 12:43 am

Hi all,

I might have made a mistake! I purchased 2 Game guns and nearly all the American Laser Games. Only to find that the guns calibration is waaaaaay off.

Is it true all Game Guns are not compatible with pal due to the 50Hz signal? Will I need to purchase NTSC just to use the gun? If so I think this is the offending cause.

Embarrassing!

Ash.

I've decided to pick up an NTSC jap 3DO. My CRT is 50hz though - will that affect anything with regards to the gun game calibration?

This is all providing there's no way the gun game works on pal consoles.

Hi again all,

Apologies to chime in again, just wondering if anyone had any experience with the issue above? If you own a Game Gun, or have any experience with one, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have never owned the Game Gun before and there's little information on the net.

If anyone knows the cause and is able to fix the items, I'd be happy to pay.

Failing that, I have a feeling I might just end up binning these. Which would be a great shame as they cost a fortune. :(

The NTSC machine will not work on your CRT unless it supports 60hz.

I am not sure if the guns work on pal or not. I vaugely remember hearing that they dont though.

If you get a NTSC machine and 60hz CRT you should be ok with the guns. I had a game gun though and it didnt like my tv at the time. Games with small targets were no fun to play at all because the calibration was always a little off for me, never in the same direction.

No, the guns dont work on -E consoles, and its not because of the 50Hz, its because the console scales the original 640x480i into a 768x567i window, meaning the the console thinks youre aiming at a different part of the screen.
