Is such a thing possible? It would be kinda cool, but I think this is the 1st mention I've heard of something like this.

the pin out is different , you could hurt your 3do plugging any sega stuff into the 3do . but i'd love for someone to find the pinout of each , maybe things could be changed around on a sega gun to make it work , i just bought a 3do gun that i'm going to need to open up , maybe i'll take some pics , or write down which port gets which wire .

I have a Game Gun here that doesnt work, it hasnt for quite a long time, but when the trigger is pulled, it simply cant tell where you are pointing the gun, it always thinks youre pointing off the screen.

Its like as if it cant see the screen at all. Id love to get it going again if someone here can point me in the right direction on what i should do.

I see there is a 10MHz xtal on the back of the board, if this gun has been dropped at some stage is there a chance this xtal may be no good? I am not exactly sure what the seeing eye in this gun is, cause i cant read the writting on it.

Everything appears perfect on the board, and pulling the trigger does register with the console every single time, it just thinks youre pointing off screen.

Are you sure it's not your TV? Light guns don't work with HDTVs or LCDs or anything fancy. You need an old-school SDTV.

100% certain its not the TV, cause we tried it on a few, it did work perfectly fine on the Panasonic TX-47WG25-H 47 inch GAOO rear projection TV i had back then, it also worked fine on my mate's 80cm Panasonic, it wouldnt work on the Panasonic TAU GIGA rear projection TV i had after the GAOO unless it was set to an interlaced mode for reasons i am pretty sure you will understand.

I havent ever tried a light gun on an LCD or plasma display, never gave it a thought, i know the simple operation of it all means it cant work on those screens due to the fact there is no H/V scanning on them, and the whole screen refreshes at once.

The problem has to be the gun, cause it does the same on 3 consoles.

There was an issue with Pal/NTSC I recall
The gun is compatible with both TV types but Pal versions of the software did not always support it.
Is the software your using Pal specific?
Try an NTSC title with the TV in NTSC mode and see what happens. Back in the day I usually got my software mail order from the UK but the ALG games I specifically got from the US because of this.

It worked perfectly fine on all the 3DOs we have here, 3 Panasonics, of those, 1 is PAL, the FZ-1 and the other FZ-10 are both NTSC. The PAL FZ-10 has a border all the way around the picture.

The problem isnt the software, it isnt the TV, it isnt the console, it isnt the video system, cause the gun did work perfectly fine with all the games on all the machines. It stopped working for a reason we cant figure out, but it had worked the day before on all the same equipment.
