3DO - A soccer lover's platform

For whatever reason I started thinking about soccer games on the 3DO and it struck me that there are quite a few titles to choose from.

In fact, the 3DO library offers ELEVEN unique soccer games. Actually, there are THIRTEEN "soccer oriented" games if you include Soccer Kid and ESPN Let's Play Soccer. Admittedly, this is a bit of a stretch.

Still, eleven unique soccer games is quite a few proportionally speaking. Both in terms of 3DO library size and in terms of titles representing other sporting activities.

Heat of Eleven '98 was the name of the M2 arcade game.

Which repackaging? Are you referring to Olympic Summer Games, or is there a repackaging of Olympic Soccer?

I distinctly remember olympic soccer being repackaged for the Atlanta games in a souvenir pack complete with Atlanta '96 logo/mascot-I think usedgames are still advertising it on their website.

What is the game next to Striker?

I've only got 1/2 or so of the games listed (although I've been searching for V-Goal for a while now) ... I'd like to know your opinion on the import games.

For the most part, the import soccer games seem to be pretty solid soccer games. I am by no means a soccer game aficionado, nor have I put much time into playing these games. Still, from what I have seen, I think most people who enjoy this type of game would find these imports satisfactory if not even good.

It's called "Goal Field Hunter". It seems to have a story associated with the game. Here are some video captures. I have not played for very long so I wasn't able to explore all of the options.

Yeah, Goal Field Hunter is one of the harder to find Japanese titles. Even more so than V Goal Soccer '96 probably.

Shame Tecmo didn't make more 3DO games.
