Okay, so this turned up today, all the way from Japan.

I have an FZ10 one, but it's the FZ1 version I have wanted since reading about them on the web in 1993. Well, it only took 15 years, and now I have a boxed one

 Just like new too!
It's actually a lot bigger than I thought and the powersupply weighs more than the unit. I'd say about twice more!
It does however add a "Digital Video" logo to the 3DO startup sequence which looks very cool with the words "Calling Sottreset for Uncle" (???) to it as well breifly.
It's a snug fit, but I do think more could have been done to make blend in with styling of the FZ1 more. Still, I have one. Yeah!

what do folks burn VCDs with? I've converted a show (Loguns Run) to MPEG1 format, but Nero seems to monkey about with it. A search of the web just fills up with $29.99 apps which may or may not work.
Help apprecaited!

I used to make VCDs back in the day. There are many ways to get the end result, but maybe this guide can help you.

If you are looking for QUALITY as the end result, TMPEG (i believe its called) is the absolute best although you will need a beefy machine for it not to take forever to convert the vids. It should be on doom9 with a tutorial (download full versions on torrent sites)
This is not gonna be click and go there is alot of figuring out to this BUT the end result is the best with this software package
Heres the website

heres the optimized templates

That is one of the ones I was looking at. Cheers for endorsing it

So I have now given it a go and converted the show to Mpeg1.
It's just the actual burning it as VCD now. I've tried Nero 8 but it seems to making a pigs-ear of it.
I'll keep trying and post my findings!
Thanks again!

heh and i thought every knew by now never use nero to convert anything

i used to use MainConcept MPEG Encoder, but its an old program and will probably have problems keeping the voices sync'd up with the new xvid/avi's out there now
ive also used Total Video Converter and Xilisoft Video Converter 3
mostly to convert other types of files to divx/avi
the only time ive used TMPEG was to sync the voice up on some shows

I didn't use Nero to convert. Not even I'm that stupid.

But I did sort of hope it would be able to burn. You know, burn a CD. But, apparently not.
I'm still trying to figure out how to make a VCD and burn it with, well, anything!

Do you want to know what your problem is with Nero? You are using version 8! The best Nero out there especially if you only use it for burning and not encoding is version 6.6. I have burned VCDs and everything else under the sun with it and it doesnt take a GB of HD space to install, only 30MBs. Im telling you download Nero 6.6, ITS WAY BETTER THAN ANY OF THE NEWER ONES

heh opps i guess i thought you were trying to convert with nero
and matt is right anything newer than 6.6 is crapola, im using 6.3 right now and i tried up upgrade to 7 awhile ago and it sucked. they seem to cripple/MESS up the program when they upgrade it, which defeats the point of an upgrade i think

Yeah TMPEG was the best back when I still used to make VCDs. I never did like the way the VCD adapter for the FZ-1 looked. Too bulky jutting out from the side like that.
P.S. I'm using Nero 6.6.0.3 Enterprise Edition and it's def better than anything they made later.

I had a 'borrowed' copy of 6.xx for years and years and years. And for what ever reason, about 6 months ago, I decided to get a proper copy. and THIS is thanks I get. Pffft, no more honesty for me.

nero works wonders for vcd for me(haven't need it for years though), however you can use vcdgear to make a cue sheet and bin file from the mpg. have you tried any extreme bitrate vcd's or kvcds?

I used to use Winavi along with some other utilities at times to make Vcd,Svcd, and Kvcd stuff, and would use Nero to burn it off without issues. I would use the advance menu with Nero though, not the typical start up menu wizard that had all the basic options.
