I disagree with tons of his opinions on games, but because his priorities are generally so consistent, his reviews are often very useful to me.
To put it differently: I don't care about the grades he gives games, but his reviews give enough info that I can often figure out whether
I'd like a game based on the information + knowing his preferences (he likes simpler games, dislikes anything with a learning curve, etc.).
He's dead wrong on Gain Ground, though.

More seriously: I don't really care about anyone's opinions on games per se, in that I'm not offended if someone doesn't like a game I appreciate or vice versa -- I've learned my tastes are idiosyncratic and I'm often unmoved by games people think are awesome, or engaged by games people think are crap.
Lazy reviews irritate me, though, and a few of the VGC's reviews are pretty lazy; Destination Earthstar is the worst in that department (not because DE is good, but because he overlooks half the game!).
