Sanyo?
Here's a piece of the 3DO story that I don't recall ever having heard about before: Sanyo was getting cold feet shortly after the 3DO launch. Apparently they changed their minds eventually, since Sanyo 3DO units did hit store shelves. Wonder what happened?
The bit about their being no word of Japanese software in development is something of a mystery too, since the system launched in Japan with six games.
The below clipping is from the February 1994 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, for those trying to place this in chronology.

Yep, thats the one he had. Same controller as the FZ-JP1 but had Sanyo written on it.

Typical negative article based on heresy. Many of us here have Sanyos , myself included. Many journos at the time were under pressure to promote anything Sony and bag everything else for advertising kickbacks

Re: Sanyo?
I see no reason any Japan made Sanyo device would not be right up there with Panasonic really, back in the day they were a great company.
There is a couple Sanyo 3DOs on ebay at the moment, as well as a controller.

Re: Sanyo?
Neither the article nor I claimed that the Sanyo 3DO was never released. They simply reported that Sanyo had announced they were cancelling plans to release the system for moment; I've since found that GamePro reported the same announcement. No negativity, no heresy, just facts.mattyg wrote:Typical negative article based on heresy. Many of us here have Sanyos , myself included. Below I've pasted the very interesting follow-up. So the question still remains: What made Sanyo ultimately change their minds (again) and release the 3DO?

Re: Sanyo?
Great article Martiniii and, indeed... I wonder what urged Sanyo to release the TRY 3DO in the end?
