Strahl

Something's wrong with the search feature on the forums. I know I asked about my difficulties with Strahl's button mashing sections on these forums, but this thread isn't among the results I get when I search for "Strahl". This isn't the first time in the past week that I haven't been able to find a discussion that I know occurred here, either.

Anyway. Since I'm encountering only frustration with regard to overcoming the bug in Slayer (checked the Game Guru, and the codes only let you skip to levels up to level 10), I decided to kick back and have a quick romp with Strahl. While playing, I started to wonder if the reason other people weren't having difficulty with the button mashing is a NTSC/PAL issue. After all, I know from trying the game on 4DO that the synching of the button inputs and video is very reliant on the hardware. So perhaps when the game is played on a PAL 3DO, the button prompts are drawn out so that they're easier to enter.

Can anyone confirm or dispel this theory?

The search function often seemes to work sporadically. I've had several issues myself.

What exactly are are the issues you encounter with Strahl? I own a Japanese version which I play on my NTSC machine, and it works fine.

The search on any phpBB can be hit or miss. Google is always a good backup. You can search within a specific site or forum by typing "site:" with the main url of it. So to search here for your Strahl thread, on Google you'd type "Strahl site:http://www.3do.cdinteractive.co.uk" and you'd be set. I believe this is the thread you were looking for.

Thanks, Kyosho, that is exactly the thread I was looking for.

As detailed in the thread, Trev, I find the button mashing on a couple parts to be much too hard. I still can't discount the possibility that my thumb is that much slower than everyone else's, but I find it hard to swallow so I'm still keeping an eye out for another explanation. Plus, I'd like to review Strahl some day, and it wouldn't be good if I had to comment "I found some of the button mashing parts way too hard, but no one else I've talked to has had this problem, so... I guess it's up to you whether you want to take that risk by buying the game." :?

I've just started playing the game again to refresh my memory. I find the few sections where you have to keep hitting the B button to be fairly easy myself. At least in compariosn to other button mashing games that I can quickly recall (the old Track n Field games, the torture scene from MGS, etc ...)

This might sound silly, but is it possible you are trying too hard? When you are pounding the B button, do you see the progress gague moving? I wonder if you might be tapping so much that the game can't read it properly ... I've seen it happen w/other games.

Sorry I can't come up w/a better explanation.

That's not a bad hypothesis, actually, but I do see a dot disappear from the progress gauge each time I hit the button.
