Battle Chess question...

During the battle sequences, do you control your piece, or just watch an animation play out??

humm its been awhile since ive played but i think i remember you just watch the battle take place

predetermined battle sequences depending on who they fight. You control nothing.
each piece has a unique killing blow for check mate. I played this game a ton just to try and trigger certain king kill scenes.
If you want to actually "Battle" you should track down Archon. Classic PC game, that I think got a NES port.
