Old 3DO Receipts

Post by bitrate » Mon May 07, 2012 8:27 pm

I was going through a lot of my long-box 3DO titles a while back and every once in a while a receipt would show up. I thought it was kind of interesting as it provided a sort of snapshot of time from when 3DO games were retailing on store shelves.

The receipts also help to establish a rough timeline for 3DO releases, which is something that is not well documented. Obviously, they don't dictate absolute release dates, but they do create a sort of upper limit to when the title was released since the game had to be available when the receipt was printed (excluding predorders).

If anyone else has receipts for 3DO hardware/software I encourage you to scan them and include them in this thread.

Here are the ones I found:

Pictured below is a Babbage's receipt for AD&D Slayer.
Dated: Sept. 7, 1994

Pictured below is an Electronics Boutique receipt for Mad Dog McCree.
Dated: Nov. 17, 1993

Pictured below is a FuncoLand receipt for Dragon's Lair.
Dated: Jan. 25, 1996

Pictured below is a Software, Etc. receipt for Star Wars Rebel Assault.
Dated: Dec. 3, 1994

Image

Pictured below is a Best Buy receipt for Monster Manor.
Dated: Jan. 19, 1995

No, unfortunately. While I managed to keep my original system and games complete and mint, I did not hold on to the receipts. I was a little too young at the time, so most of the games were birthday/Christmas gifts, where I didn't have access to the receipts anyway.

Lemmi - LOL at your collection of receipts. :D
Awesome additions to the thread.

If we can get enough of these it will make for an interesting timeline of 3DO sales. Unfortunately, I'm guessing there won't be many more entries.

Wow that is great! I sadly only saved the receipts to my Nintendo purchases, and didn't detail many of the ones without the purchase item listed. If I find any for 3DO, mine or otherwise, I'll scan & post them.

Cool thread! I've nothing to contribute to it, sadly, however, I've enjoyed looking through it.

Awesome idea. This makes me wish I'd been holding onto more of my Wii game receipts. That's something I'll have to do in the future.

Being a latter-day 3DO owner, obviously I have no receipts to show. For those who have 'em, thanks for sharing!

All I can say, amazing. A piece of a culture and media market long dead. Ace indeed.
