Cannon Fodder on the 3DO vs. the Jaguar version?...

I assume this game is about the same on both consoles; I did look at a scan of the manual of the Jaguar version, and it does not use the keypad. I don't know when I'll get a Jaguar, so I'm wondering if there are any problems/shortcomings with the 3DO port.

Never played the Jaguar version, but I loved the 3DO port!
Despite I don't have a 3DO mouse, I even got used to play
this game with the joypad - after a period of practicing it
worked out quite good.

I love that game. It's a bit like a Monty Python movie making
fun of "Syndicate". :)

I doubt there is much in it to be honest. They are both probably ports from the PC/Amiga.

The 3DO version has some extra video's that i imagine they couldn't fit on the Jag cart mind you.

Yeah thats my impression too. Few games support it from what i know. Whilst i do have a nice minty mouse in box i never use it, coz i never researched what games its compatible with.. I know its supposed to work with some of the Laser games.

There is an old sticky that lists mouse compatible games, but I don't recall ever hearing Cannon Fodder being one of them ... which is a real shame, as the game is built for one.

It hasn't been mentioned, but I'm wondering if the music in the 3DO version is stronger than the Jag by virtue of being cd? I remember hearing a funny song from Cannon Fodder on youtube, but don't know if it was from the pc version only ...

Does the 3DO version have in-game music? For some reason I thought the Jaguar one was mostly silent in-game asides from sound effects. Been a looooong time since I've played it though so I'll surely need a refresher.

Yep, you're right. I've never owned a Jaguar, but I've seen videos of the Jag version online. There's music in most parts of the game, but not in the combat mode, where you spend most of your time.

That was one of the games I bought with my Jag, always loved it. I'd only put money into a 3DO version if it does have mouse support.

Well, he doesn't even own a Jag yet so I'd think the 3DO version would be more of a sound purchase.

Fond memories aside, is there any one area where the Jag version is better?

I mean, I had thought about buying the 3DO one but I won't unless there is mouse support. Not saying he shouldn't.

Both versions of the game are very close. Not much of a difference at all. Also, if I remember correctly, Cannon Fodder on the 3DO does not support the Mouse. In the end, both games are quite cool and both versions are pretty much identical. Sound too.

I was just flipping through my copy of The Atari Jaguar Official Gamer's Guide, and they say "Cannon Fodder has the unfortunate distinction of being the most bug-filled Jaguar cartridge on the market" :(

I'm curious to know what those said-bugs are?

I could scan the page from the book if you like. The worst of them seems to be the 'end-of-mission total system crash bug' ...

That would wear thin fast.
