What long time franchises owe their humble beginings to the 3DO?

Need For Speed. Doesn't seem to want to die ever.
Gex. Was around for a while, even after he was whored to the 3rd dimension.

The 3DO RR essentially was part four. The series started on the Genesis.

Always wanted to try Iron Soldier. Always looking for well-made mech games. MechWarrior was good. NEVERMIND, here comes Microsoft's money. Now it feels like you're the bully stomping through Toy Town.

Speaking of which, they're making another Steel Battalion. For the Kinect. Morons.

How about D? Enemy Zero for the Saturn(and eventually the PC) is basically an unofficial sequel to D. Then there's the unreleased D2 for the M2, and finally the released D2 for the Dreamcast, which I guess you could say is really D4.

Possibly.. Was D released on the 3DO first?

And a side note D2 for Dreamcast is a direct sequel to the first game. If you want to count D2 for M2 it would be the third iteration; as Enemy Zero used the Laura character but had nothing to do with D.

Doing what we do best (derailing the thread), what is extra in the Director's Cut? And is the Japanese version still relatively playable? If I remember correctly, there wasn't much text in D.. orrr, I could be terribly mistaken. Just curious because there are a generally a few copies of it on eBay and they don't go for much last I checked.

The Director's cut is longer with extended and alternate scenes. You don't need to know Japanese as the only parts that are in Jap are spoken anyway.

Ha, I thought back to this comment and realized what a mistake that was. As far as I can tell, the Director's Cut was pretty limited and copies *DO NOT* come up regularly. Anyone know the last time they saw one around, perhaps on evilbay?
