The one unreleased game that made you upset the most?

Post by T2KFreeker » Wed Feb 23, 2011 11:56 pm

Seriously, what was the one game that was announced that never released that upset you? It's a pretty general question and please, no lists of 20 games you wanted to see because we all have our lists of games we wanted to see, but what was the ONE that you REALLY wanted?

For me, it was The 11th Hour. I remember going to a friends house and playing through The 7th Guest and really loving the game. When I saw that the sequel was coming to 3DO, I was all over it. Constantly checking into it and asking for a release date. I actually pre-ordered the sucker from Software Etc. back in the day just to have it quietly canceled. Made me really mad. I guess that was the moment I also figured out that the 3DO as a system was dead. Really sad. I keep on hoping that an image of the game exists, but there has been nothing at all said about work on the game. I know it was begun but have no idea how far along it was or if it was finished.
This is a stick up! Put all of your 3DO games in the bag and nobody gets hurt!

It would be the 11th Hour for me as well. MK3 would be the runner-up.

Predicatbly I could say the M2 D2, but I'm going to go with Wing Commander IV. I just loved WC3 so much, and was so drawn in by it, and then... damn you EA, damn you all to hell.

I would also say D2 for the M2, but if we are strictly talking 3DO than I would have to agree on The 11th Hour.

M2's D2 and WC4 because WC3 is one of my favorite 3do experiences.

I appreciate the M2 love here because as far as I am concerned, the M2 as a whole not releasing sucks! Still, this is about the 3DO, not the M2.

it was the deciding factor in my original 3DO purchase.

Welcome back! I can't even say TNG because I didn't even know they were working on it back then.

if they had a hockey game on the shelves back then, i would have saved up for the 3do, no matter the price the system was at the time

i sold many NES games to buy the TG16 just for Hockey, then i sold the TG16 for a Genesis just for Hockey. then 2 years later i got ahold of the guy i sold the TG16 to and bought it back but his fuckin kid traded in 90% of the games i had to funcoland for SNES games (gaywad)

I actually had forgotten about that one. Was there much work done into it?

For me, it was definitely Star Trek TNG.

A very close second was BIOS Fear. I actually enjoy games like Defcon 5 and Iron Angel of the Apocalypse (I'm guessing due to their atmosphere), and BIOS Fear was going to be handled in a somewhat similar fashion.

I know its m2, but D2 for sure. No other unreleased game has ever interested me more than that.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate any kind of a build of my number 1 wanted unreleased 3DO game.

But I did find a playable build of my number 2...

I found an official flyer for the game too...

Like many, my top 2 picks are Star Trek & NHL 96.

I also was looking forward to Descent & Disruptor. At least they did see the light of day on other consoles though.
Most wanted - Eye of Typhoon, 3DO Magazines issues #14 & #15, Pro Stadium, Defcon 5

PM replied to... finally.

If only more work had been done on Star Trek...

Lemmi and others interested in it, I don't have a build of NHL 96, but I am fairly sure that there is a working beta/final of that game out there. I have internal documentation and video showing that NHL 96 was very near to being mastered/signed and published.

Yeah, I know there's at least one video of it up on YouTube. It looks pretty damn complete to me!

For me it was the remainding games from American Laser Games

Shootout at the Old Tuscan (And the rest, would have to check what they were).

Then followed by 11th Hour and UMK3
Most wanted:

I'll vote for World Builders, Wing Commander IV and Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster.

Descent, hm... Had any development been done on this?
Honestly, if Descent would have been possible on the 3DO,
I am finally convinced that Doom could have been totally
smooth with all details!

Well, Descent was excellent on the PlayStation.. it's possible it may have been doable (well-enough) on the 3DO. :)
