The pin outs look the same... Will it blow my controller port on my genny if I try it out?

They're the same connectors, but that's about it. It won't hurt to plug it in, but it probably won't work, either.

Just off the cuff, is the jaguar pro 6 button controller more ergonomic than the original 3 button? I wonder if the Jag controllers work with the Genny.

I'm very happy to report Genesis controllers work on the Amiga as well! Excellent for a blast on Uridium 2 :D

I haven't had a chance to look into the specifics of the control pads on 3DO vs. Genesis, but from what I do know they will not work interchangeably on the two machines.

Additionally, you run the risk of damaging the 3DO if you try to use Genesis pads on it.
The reason is that the 3DO uses a serial bus for communication between 3DO peripherals and therefore 3DO peripherals are active devices. Genesis pads are simple switch boxes that when hooked up to a 3DO run the risk of directly shorting the power supply lines running from the 3DO peripheral port.
While the physical layout of the pins is similar between the Genesis and 3DO, the signaling standards are completely different.
