Hey, Retrofanatic, it's been great having you aboard so far. Wish I could help with the Alone in the Dark query, but I have neither a Japanese 3DO nor a copy of Alone in the Dark.

Hello, peoples. I'm just a random dude from Ohio, United States. Wanted a 3DO for what seems like an eternity, and one is finally on its way to me through ebay. Probably should've gotten one years back, but other things always seemed to take priority. Regardless, finally going to get my hands on one. Only took 20 years. Heh. It's a Japanese FZ-1 for those curious.

I've mostly been a PC gamer. Sure, I've had consoles pretty much all my life, starting with a 2600 (most recent ones being 360 and Wii), but 90% of my gaming has always been done on PC. So you won't see me getting into any console wars arguments. However, I'm a bit of a purest and don't care for emulators. Real console hardware (or even an old PC for DOS games...don't care for DOSBox) is my thing. Otherwise I probably would've played some 3DO games already.

I'm also one of those modder type people who build somewhat ridiculous portable versions of consoles. Oh and I do Let's Plays on youtube. Might even do a 3DO game at some point, not sure yet.

Welcome to the forum! It's always great to see new folks checking out the system for the first time. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts once you receive your system and try out some games. :)

Welcome Kyosho
You are in states but like me have the Japanese fz1 en route. If you should ever happen across a copy of alone in the dark one that is the pal release would you be so kind as to let me know if it runs on your console?

I highly doubt I'll ever randomly come across a PAL copy of AITD, but I'll try a burned one at some point. Have you tried that? I'm curious to see the difference in screen ratio (assuming the game works).

The pal version states on the front it features full screen display on any pal system so I am hoping that's the issue, it has been optimised for the speed and full screen and so will not run on the already 60hz console but nobody has confirmed this as yet. I don't currently have the capacity to burn discs or I would do that but I will hopefully get an answer soon and probably just punt it or swap it for something else. Provided it is just a compatibility thing but I am surprised there is no mention of it on here or anywhere else when I search the subject. The Saturn games that have similar issues are all fairly well documented.

Hi, everybody. First of all, I am sorry about creating a new entry in the forum, I made that for mistake. My name is Alexandre, and I am from Brazil. Second, I would like to say that is a great pleasure to take part of this fórum. I saw a 3DO for the first time in 1995, even before seen the PS and the Saturn. I am starting my collection of old VG, and the FZ-10 was my first acquisition. I would prefer a FZ-1, that I think is one of the most beatiful consoles ever made. Well, I think that my introduction is done. A great hug to all.

Welcome Alexandre.

I agree. FZ-1 > FZ-10.

FZ-1 is imo, the best looking CD-based console ever made. Although, it has stiff competition from the Dreamcast imo. Very different from one another but both look amazing...

Hi everyone, my name's Phil (as you may have guessed) and I'm writing from Belfast in Northern Ireland. I should say I'm RE-introducing myself as I was on here a few years back under the name Nintendwho, but circumstances stopped my 3DO dream that time around (I've noticed a thread where everyone is sharing their 3DO stories so I'll explain there) but basically I'm now about to get back into the world of the dream machine and the first stop couldn't be anywhere else!

I no longer have access to the old email address so can't get into my old Nintendwho account so apologies for creating another, but I prefer my new username anyway.

So, quickly, I'm 35, was there the first time around for 3DO when it seemed I was on the cusp of this brand new wave, I'm currently researching to make sure I get the best set up this time around, and so am looking forward to seeing if you can all help a guy out.

Hi guys,
I just got into the 3DO game and (once I get a working controller) I'l be made up :D
I'm from the UK and studying Computer Games Technology at University
I also have a game out on the Windows Phone called 'Quarterback' so if you can download it and possibly give me some feedback(note: it doesn't look all that great because I cant draw for toffee while I am not too bad at the actual programming) :)

Downloading it now Mike, and I see it's got 4 ratings so far and has 4 stars. Nice one.

Hi, 3DO fans! I'm owner of 3DO FZ-10 and this was my favourite console in my childhood. I have a lot of impressions from the 3DO games. First games I've played on this console are Gex, Night Trap, Killing Time and Wing Commander III. Killing Time has a great soundtrack which made it the best atmospheric FPS game. This 4 games and many others on 3DO opened a different world for my imagination. It's been a long ago in 1995. Many years after I still love this console.
