It was proven to be a fake by the person who originally won the auction.

I specifically remeber this as it was up for auction around the time that I had decided to start putting effort into collecting for the 3DO (back in 2000).
It sold for a low amount. I contacted the guy who won it and he later confirmed that it was a hack job on the PS1 Speed Racer title. I still have his emails here somewhere.
