Battlesport - most under rated game on the platform?

I was playing this for ages last night, it's actually pretty good. It was the wrong type of game, delivered at the wrong time, perhaps 3DO studio should have been doing a 3D fighter or 3D arcade racer, but it's a damn fine game. No one ever talk about it much...

Lemmi, you gotta unwrap it ... Battlesport is awesome.
I actually did a review of this on the defunct 3DO Maniac forum, but I never did transfer it as I felt I could do better. Director's cut in progress ...
This game was overshadowed by Studio 3DO's over releases like Captain Quazar & Killing time but it is the better game.

It really is a good game, I remember playing it addictively when I first got it.

It is a fantastic two player game - awesome played amongst drunken comrades! One of the many great party games for the 3DO!
It definitely gets the mattyg seal of approval
I know this is one of Vance's fave's too !

Yeah, this one seriously competes as one of my favorites on the system, especially if you're playing against a friend. Just the right kind of frantic action on all fronts. The rules worked, it was the right choice to keep it like a simple combination of basketball, football, and World War IV. Been thinking of writing a more detailed review of this on the zine.
Likewise, the graphics were scaled just right to keep the action silky smooth. Some games you can exploit in multiplayer. Not this one, you gotta be good.
Interestingly, when 3DO ported this to other consoles, it wasn't quite as good. My friend in college had the PS1 version and I suspect the processor speeds weren't taken into consideration when porting it, leading to a less smooth experience.
Last bit of trivia that I just mentioned elsewhere; BattleTanx was originally to be a new BattleSport game.
