Freedo version 2.0.2 alfa

Post by 3DOKid » Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:11 am

Just in case anyone missed this, there is an alpha of Freedo 2.0.2.

It runs amazingly on my machine but that said, I use a duel-core CPU with 4Gb of RAM, and weirdly people with equally high spec'd machines are having issues with performance.

It's a little bit tricky to find if you don't speak Russian so here is the download link.

I been using this a little, and for my money the actual emulation is perfect. I think in previous version there were screen filters and the emulator smoothed the graphics, making the games, in my honest opinion, look less 3DO. That's all gone. And this looks fantastic.

It's a bit tricky to get going if you don't speak russian or indeed have the russian language pack installed.

The easiest way to figure out the menus is open up a copy of Freedo 1.8 or 1.9 which are in ENglish and for all the important things (gettting it going for example) everything seems to be in the same place.

The keys (if you play with a keyboard like me) are as follows.

Dpad up, down, left and right are on the arrow keys on the keyboard
Dpad A button = z key
Dpad B button = x key
Dpad C button = c key
Dpad LS = a key
Dpad RS = d key
Dpad P = enter key
Dpad X = space-bar.

Pressing F4 now takes a screenshot

There are a few issues - I think there is mouse support in the game for light gun games (which if true is awesome) but I can't figure out how to elgantly release the mouse and I can't for love-nor-money figure out which screen makes it Full Screen. (used to be F4)

That aside, this is very good, very good indeed.

Try alt+enter to fullscreen it yet? Thats usualy a common shortcut. You must not be on Vista. It seems that Vista is causing the problems because I have a quad core processor with 4gb of ram and it runs only 40fps.

I tried alt+enter, alt+f4, then random keys - not of which seem to work :(
