I've only owned the FZ-1, and it's the only one I ever plan on owning. Such a great looking and solid system.

I like the Goldstar for its VCR looks and gamepad (which I'd recommend over the Panasonic ones). You don't need to go far to find out that the Goldstar build quality lags behind the Panasonic models. Many can't play backups. Early ones have compatibility problems with a couple of games, sucky games anyway. But you can buy 3 Goldstar models for the price of one Panasonic...

Sanyo TRY - bit different from others appearance wise and with the built-in VCD support nothing additional to buy~
and mine has no problem to play CD-R that I burnt...

I've owned a Goldstar , a FZ-1 and a Sanyo .
The Sanyo is my pick - no issues with Kenji script as was Japan only.
It'll play anything thrown at it and build quality is up there with the panasonics.
As for the Goldstars - good looking doorstops or boat anchors

Personally I've found the Sanyo model hates CD-Rs. My vote goes for the FZ-1.
