It's driving me nuts now. What standards did the 3DO VCD unit support?
I only have "Asterix in Amerika" in VCD format that works and that is in German. And I don't speak German.
My Top Gun VCD (my favourite of the two) doesn't work either.

I thought there's only one standard for VCD. Later it was upgraded to SVCD though it's different format.
I have no problem to play any of VCD I have on Sanyo TRY though all of my VCD are from either HK or Korea...

Which can mean only one thing - I'm doing it wrong.
I want to rip Star Trek the motion picture and make my very own VCD, and then watch it the way Trip intended.

No, there were various versions of the VideoCD standard. Most important are VideoCD 1.1 and VideoCD 2.0. The VCD adapter for the FZ-1 does not support VideoCD 2.0, nor does the first model of the adapter for the FZ-10 (support for VCD 2.0 was added with the 2nd model). Moreover, there are the so-called "Digital Video on CD-i" discs which look and feel like VideoCDs but aren't ones. Those can only be played on a CD-i player.

hmmm I have some movies on VCD. All manufactured ones, even PAL, work on my GoldStar. None of the burned ones do, but hey, try and play anything burned on the GoldStar!
