Memory module on ebay, with support for english OS?

Post by Anonymous » Sat Apr 13, 2013 11:14 pm

Hey, i just found this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/JAPAN-PANASONIC ... 4ac20bb489, and the seller shows an english OS support for the memory manager interface. Is this available somewhere else?

I deleted all my old saves a while back while trying to figure out the menues on my copy, so this would be really helpful for me to have.

Anyone know?

I think they only came out in Japan. I've tried mine on UK PAL and a Japanese NTSC and it worked fine.

$245 seems a bit steep mind you.

Yeah i have had one of these for years and they work fine across pal, us ntsc and jap ntsc. But the language on the proprietary memory manager is always japanese. The guy selling this says he has languages for english OS. Im wondering if there is a known translation out there, he has simply downloaded and burned onto a seperate disc. I would love to try that myself and see if i can run an english language manager to avoid deleting saves by mistake, and utilize the memory manager correctly..

Im not really interested in buying this since i already have one, except mine isnt boxed. The price is very expensive yes.

I'll dig mine out in a bit and clarify for you.

Does the regular memory manager see it too?

no, you need the disc that comes with the memory unit to use it.

if you have an english translated version of the memory unit software, be sure to check it on a japanese unit if you have one. I found a post on here 3DO Experience made about it, and from what i can tell there was a translated image that would run it in english on pal and us machines, but reverted back to japanese again on japanese units.. My main unit is a rgb modded japanese FZ-10..

I suppose i COULD plug in the pal unit for when i need to fiddle with the unit itself and re-arrange saves etc, but that would be cumbersome and inconvenient.

I could also do fine with a written translation of the screen menues. I copied the picture from the auction showing this, but i dont remember if it stays the same as you copy, move and delete, or if the individual phrases move about etc.. ill have to look into that later today..

Id appreciate if you could have a look and see where you end up 3DOkid.

Interesting, I had assumed that the memory cart would use English for the menus, seeing as how many Japanese games use English for the main menus. Between that and the price, I'm glad that I'm feeling satisfied with the combined capacity of the 3DO's internal memory and the Game Guru.

I have the game guru too, but the memory unit is both a nice collectible, and adds a LOT of save space available.

Right, so i just plugged:

UK PAL 3DO FZ1 into
FZ-EM256 (Japanese) using
The disk that came with it.

It's all in English.

What do you need?

The disc displays Japanese only in units from Japan. Anywhere else it displays in English. There is only one disc for it.

That is really interesting.. English text, albeit from a Japanese region.. That is, when played on an American or PAL unit. Interesting...

Simple enough to do, but interesting yes. I'll dig out my Japanese FZ-10 and and see the magic :)
