I noticed the same difference with my PAL FZ-1 and my NTSC FZ-1, though without any VCD module. NTSC has more washed out colors and sometimes I even see scan lines. I've heard from many people that PAL just got the better colours due to technical reasons of the standard. I assume that this problem d...

Many TVs need to be told if there's a S-Video signal coming in. 2 of my TVs have one AV channel combined for Composite and S-Video, so I can switch between AV 2 and AV 2/s. Using AV2 with S-Video connected causes a black and white picture, since the TVs assumes that a composite cable is connected - ...

Well. technically you would get a RGB signal as well, yes. But... (there's always a but ;) ) The VGA box just converts a given signal into the RGB components, using the information that it gets. Since a less quality-signal means a signal with less picture information, the VGA box just produces a pic...

Despite some opinions I've so far read here - S-Video
improves the picture quality a lot.
I wouldn't want to miss it, even if there's no RGB.
I just kind of like sharp contoures. ;)

No, that would not be possible - the VCD add on supports only
MPEG 1 format decoding and not MPEG 2, which is the used
filetype for DVD movies.

Now if it could have a HDD that could be used to imitate the CD drive by mounting images, used never have to worry about scratching a disc again and you'd have the fastest load times possible! Disagreed. With this board you've got the hardware to...

EM-256

Premise 1: The EM-256 is basically just an external storage device, comparable to a battery powered USB stick, with 256 kilobytes of memory. Premise 2: It needs a special driver to be mounted. The driver is content of the Storage Manager program, bundled with the EM-256. Conclusion: With a little m...

Resolution extrapolation

Okay, as far as one can read the 3DO operates internally with a resolution of 320x240, the output signal however is extrapolated to 640x480 by default. My question: Why? What's the advantage in that? I mean if a 320x240 picture gets extrapolated (stretched) by hardware to 640x480 or if the 320x240 g...

When the Microsoft X-Box was released in Germany, a price
of 480 Euros was set.
And this isn't very far from what the 3DO had cost when it was
released.

So the price cannot be the major reason.

The NeoGeo was able to display 4096 colors at once, if I recall correctly - and the Saturn...? Hm, I dont know. But, is there really a difference between 16bit color and 24bit?
