If i was a hardass about customer service, then price wouldnt be my "hardassness". I hope you understand my point there. Well, it's possible to do both: demand the lowest possible price and the best possible customer service. (Whether that's reasonable is another issue!) Regardless, good customer s...

So im sorry you had some issues, but in MY personal experience, if you email him, telling him what you want and doing some research with him before you place an order, you wont be disapointed. Well, I did exactly that: I sent him a detailed list, asked questions about condition, patiently waited se...

For example, i find a shop called "www.collectorscardsandgames.com" to have very low prices on most their stuff That's true, but to some extent, you'll get what you pay for. I wouldn't use CC&G as a positive example, as I placed an order with them recently, and my experience was very mixed. Long st...

Unfortunately, no. It's on a listing of mine, but I've never happened across any significant information. Hey, thanks for your reply. So Dragon Knight III/Knights of Xentar can be definitively removed from any/all lists of released 3DO games, then? That old FAQ makes it sound like there was somethi...

25 minutes? Really? Heck, if a human player was taking 25 minutes on a move, I'd think something was wrong with them. Well, I don't know if I've ever taken 25 minutes on a move, but I've definitely taken 15-20. But, that's always in the context of a timed game where I have between 1 hour an...

Keep in mind though that the 3DO version is essentially a port of a game from 1988. Outside of tweaks to improve the graphics & audio, it's still (for better or worse) the 88 engine . Fair point, though I still shake my finger at the idea that they'd re-release a 1988 engine untweaked! That said, I...

I spent some time over the past week playing Battle Chess, though strictly with an eye towards its chessplaying abilities -- I used the 2D board, with animations off. I played three games against it, first with the White pieces on Level 1 (which I didn't record), then with White on Level 5, and fina...

Re: Review - Alfred Hitchcock presents ...

Hmmm... Number of players? (Since the multiplayer would be non-simultaneous, you wouldn't necessarily have noticed the difference.) I don't think so, it kicks you back to the main menu after a winning or losing spin. Plus it defaults to 20, which would be insane (though this game is insane). Bet va...

The claim of a Japan-only 3DO version was added to the Wikipedia article in 2008 by a user named Jinnai, but it looks like the rumor goes back further: here's a 3DO game list dated 2004 that has it, for instance. And aha, here we go -- this 3DO FAQ from 1994 (!) has a list of "software in production...

Do you mean the PC game(s), or is there another console game? I don't think there's a US-released Alfred Hitchcock title for 3DO (right?).

Great review! I just spent an hour and a half with this abomination, and your comments are spot-on. An admittedly catchy soundtrack will greet you at the opening menu ... although I don’t seem to recall having heard this style of music in connection with ol’ Alfred. Here you select either gam...

FWIW, I tried Moon Cradle out today and didn't have any problem with it on a US FZ-1. Of course I didn't really know what I was doing (beyond lounging around my character's apartment), but everything seemed to work. I'll give Blue Chicago Blues a shot at some point. Are there any other games that de...

Dragon Knight III - Knights of Xentar?

Nixzero's 3DO game list includes a reference to "Dragon Knight III - Knights of Xentar". The word "xentar" doesn't show up on a forum search here, but the game is apparently a reasonably well-known eroge that came out in Japan in 1991, and was ported and translated in 1995 for a US DOS release. The ...

From what I'm told, it's part of the difficulty mode gradient. Easy mode has the targeting reticule; normal and hard modes don't. Also, since the 3DO version is basically a straight port of the PC version, I suspect it's not that they added this element to the 3DO version, but that they removed it ...

I just played through this on Hard tonight. I was expecting it to be a slam-dunk victory over the Sega CD across the board, but actually there were a couple faults. The lack of a targeting reticule in the Stormtrooper level is a huge blunder -- what were they thinking by removing that? It's not ulti...

Review - Out of This World (Another World)

I played through this last night and thought I'd write up some brief comments, since I was surprised to see that no one's reviewed it here yet. Since Another World (retitled Out of This World for the US market) is quite famous, I'm not going to give a comprehensive review of the game's history, back...

Aqua World: Umibi Monogatari I spent some time with this Japanese exclusive tonight, and thought I'd briefly write a little something up about it.
