Re: Towers II Walkthrough
I played through using my guide and beat it from start to finish in a matter of hours today. Most of that time spent swinging the heavier swords and missing. Seems like the accuracy of your strikes was based on rolling dice or something. Cool game 8) Belated reply, but this is very common in games ...

Way awesome. I just had fun reading through a half dozen posts... Will post comments later. Probably. I have no familiarity with Tumblr either, but I dig seeing screenshots of a whole bunch of 3DO games splattered across the page.

I've always had a vague sort of curiosity about this game, since it looks so different from anything else. Maybe I'll emulate it one of these days. I don't think I'll ever stir up enough interest to buy it, except perhaps as part of an Ebay bundle.

3DO dreams
Yup, bizarrely enough, the 3DO entered my dreams the other night. I haven't even had the system hooked up for months now. In my dream, someone on these boards had unearthed a near-complete beta of an unreleased 3DO game called Ninjakoshi. Yeah, Ninjakoshi, as in "Ninja Koshi" - get it? I don't eithe...

Yeah, good read. Coming out with the M2 at that time would indeed have been a risky venture; the PS1 just had too firm a hold on the market. It would take a full generational leap to break it.

In-house Jaguar games
It's often been remarked that the bulk of Atari's Jaguar games were farmed out to outside developers. So I'm a bit curious: Which Jaguar games were developed in-house by Atari?

Hmmm, I've played exactly three of the listed games. Maybe I should play one of the remaining four just so I can place a legitimate vote.

Surprisingly enough, it's still working after all these years! There were a couple of MegaRace files inside, one Gex save, and something I couldn't identify by the name. Try taking a look in this thread ; we might have it listed there. Also, cool beans on getting the memory cartridge. Though I've u...

I'm too lazy to make up a postcard right now, but yeah, definitely don't let the blog die. I still reference it ever now and then, as even a few little tidbits of info is hard to track down for many of the games you covered. It would be great if you did some new entries too.

Yeah, I remember watching a vid of Battle Blues a while back and thinking what a shame it was that it never got an English localization. From the looks of it, it really does the 3DO proud.

Want to know the real reason why we didn't get Mortal Kombat 3 on the 3DO (or Saturn or Jaguar)? Here it is, courtesy of the November 1995 issue of GamePro:

Re: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 3do stuff sold on ebay
Cool that the source code still exists. I have no interest in Mortal Kombat myself, but it's nice to know that this is out there and may one day be playable for those who are interested in it. One question, though: I always thought it was the original Mortal Kombat 3 that was being ported to 3DO, n...

Re: Review - Return Fire (with developer interview)
Didn't know the game ran at 12 frame per second, it doesn't feel like. My understanding of his comment was that they did succeed in getting the game to run at a higher frame rate than that. Also note that he's referring to the split screen multiplayer; in single player the game is bound to run at a...

Whew, that's impressive. I got the Gunslinger Pack for Wii a few months back, and The Last Bounty Hunter was the only one of the three games that I really enjoyed. Very solid live action shooting, and the slapstick comedy is a delight.

Re: How important is the map for Star Control II?...
The map is quite handy. The game has a built-in map, but due to the restrictions of screen size, it doesn't reflect the different sizes of each star system, doesn't show the territorial boundaries of each alien race, and doesn't display the name of a system unless you move your cursor over it. So if...

3DO at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 1995
I'm reading GamePro's feature on this trade show, and the 3DO section comes with a couple surprises. First of all, Goldstar was demonstrating "some cool-looking mock-ups of an M2 and a 3DO portable." I though the M2 was strictly a Panasonic deal! Here's the list of games that were on display, with t...

They're probably referring to those games which use the MPEG upgrade card, which allowed the CD-i to run higher quality FMV than the 3DO, at least until the 3DO got its own video card (which wasn't until later).

It's kind of funny how the console version of The 7th Guest ended up being a CD-i exclusive. I would have liked it to have come to the 3DO just so I could have a look at it, but it's hard to begrudge CD-i fans one of their system's few well-regarded exclusives.

I gave the video a watch. It's pretty entertaining, though I get the sense that the guys haven't played many RPGs, as they apparently don't even know to heal up between battles.
