Thanks for the review. I can see how ultimately the game is not horrendously flawed. So, it doesn't have crippling bugs or impossible difficultly. But it sure is dull!

Oh great. Someone reminded me of the pinball game. Ugh. That's gonna wreck my day. :x

I'm floored by the inexcusably bad poor quality of Wacky Races, too, but I don't count that as a game. If I expanded into not-a-game games, that would definitely be #1 on my list.

At least byte-by-byte, there are different versions, and 4DO can differentiate them (using "Help"->"Game Info"). I don't know any functional differences between A and B.

4DO's game DB just has the 4 you mention:
* US version A
* US version B
* EU PAL
* JP

To my pleasent surprise my fiancee who is 12 years older than me and hates video games actually loves to play Twisted with me. I'd assume a 3DO emulator on either of those system is feasible if someone works on it enough. The CPU emulation from FreeDO is top-notch as far as optimization, but the GPU emulation can probably be improved. A lot of emulators for later-generation systems allow disabling of specific graphical emul...

Love (best to least) Star Control 2 (I'm infatuated. I even love the flaws) Immercenary (Unique and polished) Killing Time (I think it's great, except for frame rate) Alone in the Dark (though, somewhat clunky) Star Fighter (too long and difficult, though) Out of this World (hell yeah) Lucienne's Q...

Dreygor is the man

I just saw your latest news about getting it to run, with sound included. Way to go!

Just don't load up Plumbers Don't Wear Ties like you did on the last video. 4DO might destroy itself.

Also, 4DO falls back to non-DirectX rendering (called GDI rendering) if DirectX is not available. You can see if this is happening in the log files created (you will see errors mentioning this). This will help you to see if it is actually using DirectX as expected. If it doesn't use DirectX, the onl...

It's not a true Linux port. 1)I started by using a Ubuntu distro of Linux. 2)Made sure all the drivers I needed were loaded. 3)Installed WINE and updated it, then installed Winetricks. 4)Used WINE and installed 4DO using the windows installed EXE (I would kill for your latest version - even beta ve...

This is a little OT and will sound silly but do you think 4DO could ever be ported & run smoothly on a Dreamcast? Dreamcast would not have the horsepower to do it. There was a XBox port attempted, but the core graphical emulation is too slow. The CPU emulation was actually not the bottleneck like I...

Wow I'm amazed! How did you get this to work? Is it using mono? I'm quite baffled at how you got this running so quickly, since I used quite a bit of windows-specific stuff in the 4DO code. The controller input is definitely one of these cases. I used DirectInput, a DirectX derivative, which also ma...

Oh I think I see one problem. Looks like the Spathi are attacking you! When I started the game, I made friends out the Spathi. Their ship was my main defense for long time. The earthling and zoqfot ships SUCK! There are more powerful allies for sure.

I don't know what happened with this, but here's an auction I stumbled across. Instant 3DO collection (well, minus any sort of hardware). Heck, I thought it was boring. I like regular chess "enough". Pawns die too frequently for this to hold interest! And the computer sometimes took forever to move! I'm glad he revisited it. I didn't agree with his original review. It seems like Dragon's Lair clones and Interactive Movie formats were the de facto standard when FMV's were available. It's as thoughtless as 3rd-person-cover-based-shooting today. As far as FMV games go, I think Night Trap and Sewer...

Well, I've been playing this game for just four days and I'm already stuck. Of itself, this isn't surprising. One of the distinguishing features of Crystal Dynamics games is that they're tough as nails, and though I've managed to complete most of the games by them I've played, I similarly got stuck...

That's a hard list to populate with the criteria. No wonder Mazer made it!!

Too bad we can't count Killing Time, or can we? The PC game was much, much different.

Super-bummer that they ported Lucienne's Quest too, and for friggen Saturn! What a waste!
