Re: Unreleased games - Where are they?
Some are in private hands, like BIOSfear, Theo the Dinosaur, Varuna's Forces, Escape from Planet Klamtrops, and C-Runner. Some have probably been thrown away, especially since a lot of proto discs would only work on dev systems (I think?) unless they'd been signed by the 3DO company. I'd imagine tha...

Re: 3DO Halloween
The 3DO has a very nice horror/ghost/suspense-themed library, doesn't it? There are even some additional games along that theme, e.g. Hanako-San. I ought to have given one of these games a shot yesterday -- I've been meaning to play D.

Re: 3do forum signs me out every time
I'm an admin but that's about it. I don't have access to the under the hood stuff. I can delete a user, add a user, create a forum, that's about. How it handles cookies and stuff is the responsibility of the site admin, Devin. and i've not heard from him years sadly. That's a bit alarming since if ...

the Video Game Critic actually liked it . Yeah.. I sometimes wonder how many actually care about his opinion these days. I disagree with tons of his opinions on games, but because his priorities are generally so consistent, his reviews are often very useful to me. To put it differently: I don't car...

I thought it was laughable, myself, and gave up on the game when I couldn't figure out how to exit one of the first areas. But weirdly, the Video Game Critic actually liked it . The character design and protagonist are just pathetic, though, and I agree that it's a bad look for the 3DO. But then aga...

Re: 3do forum signs me out every time
I have to sign in every time. Even if I tell 3do forum to keep me signed in it signs me out. (cookies enabled) I have that problem frequently, though not always. No idea what causes it, but it seems to be related to being active on the forums -- if I stay away for a while, I'm often still signed in...

Unfortunately I've reached the limits of my competence, especially since I don't currently own a Linux machine. But let's not let this effort die, especially since I'm hoping you're planning to go digging in some Japanese or Korean ISOs, yes yes? So can someone else help?

Re: Mount a 3DO disk in Linux
Are you using/trying OperaFS?
http://www.stack.nl/~svdb/operafs/
I haven't tried it myself, but as far as I know it's the way to mount the 3DO filesystem on Linux. What I don't know is whether it handles the decryption too.

Re: Running out of ideas for a 3DO homebrew...
blabla, do you have any interest at all in translating released games? If you can dump the script (and from what I understand several 3DO games are known to have the script in plaintext on the disc), then it shouldn't be too hard to find a translator. There are so many Japanese games (and a couple K...

Re: Why has 3DO Zone disappeared from Google?
No. I don't know him that well to be honest. What needs to be done? It's possible, I can do it. I think the first steps would be to make sure that the Google bot isn't banned (3DO Experience had an issue with that), and to use the Google diagnostics to see why the site's been blacklisted. IIRC Goog...

I keep meaning to try it, though it and The Perfect General always compete for my attention and kind of cancel each other out. I finally got a manual for it a while back, so that'll help.
I seem to remember reading that the 3DO version had a nasty savegame bug.

Re: Copy protection on certain GoldStar 3DOs?
Maybe it is simply the weak cdrom drive lasers not being able to read from CDRs 20+ years on? I would've thought so, and I had similar experiences with my first FZ-1 (it only could read CDRs after warming up for 20+ minutes, and they had to be high-quality discs). But the Russian posters on the lin...

Re: Copy protection on certain GoldStar 3DOs?
Very interesting: the person I'm speaking with on NintendoAge, who's having problems with CDRs on a GoldStar, bought his GoldStar 3DO in Russia in 1997. Did GoldStar offload a lot of their leftover consoles in Russia around then? I've noticed the 3DO is surprisingly popular in Russian-speaking circl...

Copy protection on certain GoldStar 3DOs?
I recently ran into a claim that some GoldStar 3DOs have copy protection. While I dismissed the idea at first -- we all know the 3DO has no copy protection, right? -- I researched it further and found a discussion on the Russian 3DO boards that seems quite unequivocal: the GoldStar GDO-202P has copy...

Re: Japanese 3DO FZ-1 overheating (I assume), discs hard to
That's interesting, my first FZ-1 did the exact opposite thing: it wouldn't read burned discs for the first 10-30 minutes it was powered on, but after that it read them with no trouble. OTOH my Sega CD does something similar to what you're describing, though it's not so much of an issue of silver vs...

Well, 3DO Zone is still nonexistent on Google. Are there any active admin on the site who can look into this? Has Devin completely given up on the whole domain? The CD-i side of things is a dead zone -- I registered over there and never got my account approved.
